    Hello,
I have a query about the inktomi paid submission.

while submitting a 'url' to inktomi, do you submit each individual 'url' as in each 'html' file or do you submit the main domain and inktomi spiders the rest of the pages automatically?

    thank you in advance,
    the philosopher.

No spidering involved -- you pay for each URL, that's right, one PAGE per payment.

It has been worth it to me, but only with very selective pages.

    Cedric:

We use inktomi for a few pages. They get good clicks from Inktomi partners but not much from AOL. Is there any way to customize inktomi pages for AOL?

Philosopher--it's PER PAGE. One fee, one page, no spidering.

SpongeBo--On the pages I have in Inktomi, the ranking is the same in both MSN and AOL.

I'll clarify that: Say I snag a #2 (Inktomi). That page will appear 2 slots UNDER the end of the directory listings in both engines. They each can have a different amount of directory listings, though, so the actual rank on the engines' pages can vary.

What I've noticed is that the PRODUCTS that go over (as in, get clicks) at each index is different.

MSN seems to have a more mature audience, while things that appeal to twentysomethings get clicked at AOL. According to WordTracker, MSN gets more traffic than AOL, so if you are getting the response from MSN, you already have the biggest piece of the pie that is interested.

SpongeBo -- what Leader said. My rankings are *about* the same in both MSN and AOL (Hotbot does so little for me, I don't pay much attention to it) -- but I get twice the traffic from MSN.

I haven't seen the differences Leader sees in the what the audiences for those two engines click, but that is probably because most of my "stuff" falls within one demographic.
