What does anyone know about this "Auto Home Page Script"? This is the script that automatically sets a visitors "home page" to your site. I have run accross this a couple of times recently and had my home page changed automatically.
I assume it is legal but annoying (like pop-up ads).
Does this work?
Where can you get ahold of this script for free?

Any other feedback on it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

it only works with older versions of IE and its irritating and unethical and about as classy as startblaze

>Where can you get ahold of this script for free?

its irritating and unethical, dont do it, give your shoppers the option of setting your site as their homepage

&lt!--[if IE]>

<a style="cursor:hand" HREF onClick="this.style.behavior='url(#default#homepage)';this.setHomePage('http://www.abestweb.com');"
onmouseover="window.status='make abestwebyour homepage'; return true"
onmouseout="window.status=' '; return true"><U>make homepage</U></a>

< ![endif]-->

after having personally receiving 3 of same porn email today and just be highlighting(not opening) to delete the said messages, the script they put in the mails went and changed my home page and pop up hell started.
Even as I type this I have to fight back the four letter words on how bad this type of program is and why in h*ll would you consider pissing ppl off if you are trying to make some money off them?

I am quite partial to a little porn now and again but like you I find those tactics absolutely terrible. I have lost count of he times I have had to close the computer down because of those infernal popups.

@ Commission King
If you put this on a selling page I reckon it would be the last visit you got from whoever you conned. So maybe you better start looking for another name

LOL @ gorden, I know but it was 7:45 in the AM and had just woke up. No bad sites at that time of the morning. Just my kids playing comp games. Thats the scary part that pisses me off. Some spammer has been sending me all sorts of garbage e mails such as this. Tried almost all types of methods to stop the messages. I am gonna make a post if they keep coming and ask for help here with traces and start sending them to abuse. They are all under false hotmail forged names.
Will have to go back and look at active x controls. Think that will stop the adding to favorites, will have to find out about the home page changing.

@ walleye warrior

You could do what I do to prevent the RE: virus e-mails opening.

Before closing your e-mail program always click on the bottom e-mail (I try to leave three or four e-mails that I do not want in the in-box at the bottom) when you get a virus or porn e-mail click on the email above it hold down shift then click on the e-mail below it, it should highlight all three e-mails, then just hit delete.

Yes you can get rid of a load in one go, but don't forget to leave some for when you get a bad e-mail
