Whoever took them over is shooting themselves in the foot. I just submitted 50+ keywords for a site that had crazy content - I mean articles, and everything. They rejected the terms and didn't even bother to send me an email I had to call after waiting 7 days. What type of management are they under? They are just STUPID!!!! I am not wasting my time anymore submitting any new terms. Forget them. I will just work with what is already in my account. And focus on my other PPC and Search Engine marketing efforts. I mean how is me - a client that spends $800 - 1000 a month and you treat me like nothing. Guess what - I won't be adding anything else to your dum PPC engine. I am HOT!!!! How are they going to survive by rejecting business.

They're not going to survive that way!

Although I think there may be some money to be made...shorting their stock!

I said it before ... I'll say it again -

    DUMP THEM!!!

I too ... spend 500-1000 a month with them and the first time they rejected my terms and I called them (along time ago) I let my funds run out ... and I never looked back.

There are too many alternatives to beat my head against a wall to try and give them money.

Let them persue their master plan and shoot the ones (us) that made them what they are today.

Send them a stong message and dump the S.O.B's today.

    Regards,
    Dave

Dhelle - I understand what your saying and where your'e coming from. However, I am too afraid to dump them for fear that I will lose the income level that I have grown to love. We are not talking a few hundred dollars either. This affiliate marketing has put me on a whole other level and has enabled me to obtain things in life that I would have only dreamed of before. No longer do I wait for the child support checks that never seem to come. No longer do I have to worry about my kids not getting what they want for x-mas or getting new clothes or shoes or hell, even putting food on the table.

Now if I drop goto totally, I may loss it all. It's a gamble that I am not willing to take right now or probably ever. They do provide me with quality traffic and I do still have about 2000 keywords in my account. That's alot of traffic to let go of. Now if they ax those words as well at some point, then so be it, I'll have to improvise. But until then, I will be at the mercy of Bendoverture. Once I move into my new house, I am going to look into other avenues of advertising. But right now I'm saving every dime I get.

    Jada,

I make my living off affiliate marketing and I'm just saying there is life after Overture.

Infact ... After dumping them and calculating profitability ... I do BETTER after dumping them. Work on tuning your rankings on Google and spend some on other PPC engines and you'll do fine.

    I did

Thanks Dave - I am planning on doing just that very soon. I was thinking about that last night - like trying to get into excite and some of the other search engines.

Submit your site to alltheweb.com, get's you in the FAST DB and you'll start getting some hits from lycos, search.com and others, they just indexed me so I'm no expert, but the hits are trickling in none the less.

Thanks Qball - I just submitted my sites to them. How long does it take them to index you.

Well I'm sure it's a lot quicker if you pay for it, I submitted mine a month or so ago, and resubmitted right before I got listed, so I'm not really sure, just bonus hits.

qball, you can BUY your way into alltheweb?

Hmmmm.... I don't know if it'd be worth paying for unless it's DIRT cheap, though. Not too much traffic, as I recall. "Hits trickling in", as you put it!

I submitted for free. I didn't see a pay for submission. Any other search engines worth paying for besides yahoo? I'm very afraid to submit to excite and lycos not knowing how they index and pull up sites via search. I have yahoo mastered though.

Do you think it is still worthwhile to submit new sites to Yahoo considering the yearly fee? We are still debating. Thanks!

It all depends on if you get a good listing when you submit and that is contingent upon many different things. Most of my sites that I've submitted to yahoo get about 150 - 300 unique visitors a day. Now those sites are worth paying the yearly fee for. Some of my other sites only get about 50 a day - I would have to seriously reconsider those. But so far I only have 2 sites in since December 28th. I think if you submit right the first time it can be very worthwhile.

    Thanks, Jadakiss!

We'll plan on trying a site or two in Yahoo after we get our taxes back.

    Leader,
It's actually FAST(Fast Search & Transfer ASA)'s database, they refresh your page or pages everyday I believe, and they power lycos, alltheweb, search.com, and others, (not sure). Also, not sure what the cost is, if I got a lot more traffic from them, I might check it out, but not right now.

qball-I went over to Fast's main site. They do indeed have a paid entry service, to my surprise!

Seems it used to be that you could just fill out an order form and put in your CC#, but now you have to give 'em your e-mail and get a quote.

So I gave 'em my e-mail... I fully expect to be knocked off my chair by the price when they respond!

Dave--You wouldn't believe who was over at Over swingin' her axe tonight...I'll give you one hint--it wasn't Jada!!

I was over there to get rid of some listings that needed axing when I saw these asterisks next to some of my listings...I remembered (from times I've modified listings) that THAT meant they were in line for "editorial review"!

So I saved 'em some work! I still have quite a few listings there but quite a lot have disappeared (more than I had originally come to axe)--only not because Over wanted to be rid of them, at least not just yet!

I think what is really needed is NOT for people to abandon Overture (unless you really want to of course),

what IS needed is a way to help their editors see the benefit to allowing our listings. I am not talking about business benefits for the company or any of that other crap we have been airing (it did not help).

What I am talking about is direct benefit to the editors. They are only human and probably not paid well. Seriously, how many of us even bothered to send them any holiday gift$?

    Jimbo,

I disagree... They worked for me ... Not Visa-Versa.

I sent them a clear message. They don't play by my rules ... They get the boot. If more Affiliates send this message ... Then maybe they will understand the benefit $$$ of allowing our listing.

If I sent a holiday gift ... It would have been coal

Jimbo, it'll be a cold day in That Hot Place, when I BRIBE an OverSure punk editor!!! Not only is that psychologically repugnant (paying a bribe to get somebody to merely do what they are SUPPOSED TO ANYWAY), but it would also raise the financial cost of doing business--making a listing there less desireable!

qball--when I get the response (I haven't checked my email yet) I'll post the info!

Just when I thought it was hopeless, they accepted my last batch of terms!

They really should implement an electronic tip box on the search term submission page.

No response from Fast yet. Obviously they're not so fast when it comes to their Sales department! Not exactly how to get customers--I wonder if they're really still doing it?

Jimbo--so how much of a "gift" did you give 'em?

    Leader,

    Is that PartnerSite paid-submission service?

    Check this out:
    http://www.clickz.com/article.php/955801

PartnerSite includes a 24-hour refresh and is not recommended for small sites. (not sure what small sites means)

    THIS JUST IN FROM BENTOVERTURE:

quote:
Direct Path:
The URL listed in the search result must take the user directly to the specific content page that qualifies the site for the search term. Sites may no longer direct users to their home page, or require users to search for content by having to click deeper within the site.

    Description Quality:
Titles and descriptions must be well-written, objective, clear, and concise. Using superlative words, such as "best," "biggest," or "lowest" are no longer acceptable.

    Location-Specific:
Location-specific sites may bid only on location-specific terms. Therefore, advertisers whose services can only be rendered or delivered within a certain region will have to specify that region in their terms, titles, and descriptions.

This from the latest email, titled "Important - Revised Listing Guidelines - Please Review"

That first part means US! I guess their suicide is going too slow for them!!!

And it looks like they don't want my "Great" products, either (just in case the first axe misses).

It looks like my advertising expenses are about to shrink. Somehow I'm not toooo sad about that.

(As for their point #1--if the users were searching for CONTENT, they wouldn't have clicked an OverSure listing, DUH!)
