Ok, we've all noticed that the index's have been shifting around all month from hour to hour or day to day.

Today when checking, I noticed that from the first pages those sites which had gotten a number 1-5 spot that I know used cloaking, or other things of that nature are now gone...but the other sites are pretty much the same as I remember they were.

My sites are still not back up in rankings though.

It is almost like someone (not automated) went through and delisted those sites which really didn't belong in the top 5-10 (because of cheating). Perhaps cleaning up before they reindex?? I don't know as the more I see weird stuff the more confused I become....

Beats me MsMary. My main game page was on the second page and now it's gone. Google is up to something. That page has been in there for months and months. It is still showing on G-2 and 3. Hmmmm! It also updated one of my other pages that was in there. I made out good with that one but I really need my game page back.

None of the pages that dropped out last month are there yet so I don't have a clue as to what is going on.

Sorry to hear you lost another page packy!

I guess I was wrong about them only pulling the redirects and stuff like that.

I've seen changes in my google traffic over the last few days, haven't looked into page rankings but overall traffic from google suddenly shot up.
I don't use any cloaking or tricks.. don't know whats going on.
This next refresh is going to be interesting.. google has crawled less of my main site this time round, but has crawled all of the new site I built in December.

I was checking last night and noticed something odd.

I looked for one keyword and found my site -- checked the cache and it was an older version.

Checked under a different keyword, found my site -- checked the cache and it was a newer version.

    Same page both times.

Sure hope they do a good crawl before the next index!!

quote:
I've seen changes in my google traffic over the last few days

We haven't had 'complete' information for the past week or so because we've been having server problems, but I spent some time piecing over what we had...

One of our sites has gone from #1 on a keyword to about page 8,000. Needless to say, traffic has been affected.

OTOH, a site that we don't really pay much attention to has ballooned in traffic. Haven't figured out why yet. The upside to it is that they're buying anything on this site. The sales gain from this site offsets the dropped site.

Something is obviously happening. Just haven't figured out why.

We've had a great month. Our biggest site was axed from Google this month but the others suddenly got lots of traffic. Worked out just fine and I actually hope there isn't an update this month.

I've noticed the little shifting around too and so far it looks good to me. I wonder how the main update will go?

I've noticed that too Vicki, for one keyword the cached page is from when they last spidered for the last update, and for another keyword it has been refreshed daily for the past month, my index page both times.

Everyone who mentioned it - That happened to me too. I just checked this morning and it shows an old cached page. But I still don't have my link rankings back. What the heck is going on? I just hope its good. Despite losing major traffic from google this month. I have had record breaking sales day after day. Thank you God.

I hear ya Jada!!! It has been a very frustrating month for me, dropping from an average $150 to $180 a day to $30 or so....., enough to make me want to cry like a baby! I want my page rank back **stomping foot and pouting** and I want to at least be within the first 1000 listings for any given keyword.

Things have picked up a bit since listing with inktomi, but not what it is with Google...**praying** please let google update, and please give me page rank back!!

MarySunshine - do you use PPCs too. Fortunatley for me I'm still getting a very decent amount of traffic from yahoo, inktomi and my PPCs. Yahoo flipped it's search listings about a week ago also. I hate when they do that. But I'm just glad the majority of my sites held their first page rankings on yahoo and didn't get dumped to the bottom of it's index.

For some odd reason, I am making more this month then I usually do even without the google listings. So I can't imagine what I'll make when I get my page ranks back and all the listing back that I lost. But these next 4 months are critical for me to keep my income up because of the house. That's why I'm always on pins and needles. I have to be able to have my downpayment money by May 15th. It's a must!! After that, I can chill and not be so pressed and stressed.

I do use Overture and Findwhat, although, I certainly have never spent per month what you've said you do....Some of my older sites (1yr and more) have great free listings and are getting traffic recently from inktomi and all the web, the paid listings with inktomi have gotten me up from the pitiful $30 a day to $80-$90, but I miss the days when it was double that!

I'll just keep sluggin along - This week submission to Looksmart and hopefully a good update from Google will get things back on track!

Good luck with keepin the $$ pouring in for that house payment!! I would be stressing too. LOL

It's not the house payment I'm worried about - they'll be a piece of cake. It's the downpayment that's the duzzy. But I think I may get a huge blessing and have a buyer for my townhouse before my closing date of May 15th. Then I won't have to be so pressed about making so much each month with affiliate marketing and I can use the money I get from selling my house instead. I'm showing it on Sunday to a lady who seems very interested. She actually tried to purchase the same type house as mine a few months ago but the seller chose another bidder. She told me she wanted to see it before I started showing it. So I'm crossing my fingers.

But I can't wait till it's all over so I can just have my commissions checks to myself. I won't know what to do. Yes I will, Go shopping. LOL!!! When I move, I am going to just go grocery shopping and spend like $500 on food. LOL!! Never done that before. The most I've spent is like $200. Not to mention going clothes and pleasure shopping. Dream, Dream, Dream!!!

Hmmmm, last night my old listing which has always been on the second page moved up about 5 spots and now today it is burried again. This month should be very interesting.

We still haven't seen a deep crawl by Googlebot on any of our sites this month except the one that got axed earlier. So, yes, this update will be interesting.

Yesterday Google bounced back and forth with my site. One time it showed I had 95 pages listed in its index, then 87, then 81, and even as low as 42! Of course, my inbound links were still not showing.

LOL thats what I meant, just said payment instead of downpayment Im a dork....

$500 at the grocery, now that would be fun! I've always wanted to just go and buy whatever I wanted without worrying how much I was spending!

$500 on clothes- for myself, now that's something I haven't done since having kids, but would be equally enjoyable!!
