Just checked into my account and yesterday I had 3 times the level of clicks reported than normal.

Today, I have a reported 519 clicks when at this time of the day it should be more like 20 clicks.

Are the stats screwed up or is someone spidering my links?

Hope my affiliate ID has not been put into a BHO to get me in sh@t?

That stats are whacky for the previous day around 3am EST. I think there was a discussion about this before on ABW. I didn't really follow it but I think it's just the time of day that they reconcile the previous days data in their databases so you get whacky numbers. From the looks of it it usually gives you the full stats from the month rather than just the previous day.

Although it's possible a rogue spider is hitting your links. The whacky stats usually clear up shortly after 3am EST and you posted this after 5am so this may be a spider issue. I had that happen a few times. I just wish these spiders had wallets and needed clothes.

Problem still has not cleared up. 500+ clickthroughs so far at this time of the day is nonsense. The clickthoughs have slowed. Seem to occur between the time I went to bed last night and about 10am GMT.

This is not the bug that others have reported, and the clicks were certainly not a months stats - more like three days worth.

I'll double check things on our end but when looking at the total clicks reported for the day, nothing seems abnormally high. It may just be increased traffic to your site. Our robot does not click on links, btw.

Traffic levels to my site are normal. This can only be a robot - not blaming CJs.

Never seen this activity from any robot before.

Have had 16,000+ page requests in the last couple of days from this IP address:

    210.192.120.74

    Anyone know anything about it?

Looking at this thread, seems I am not alone with the phantom clicks:

I, too, had high clicks. Matter of fact, it was my highest day ever. But sales were normals so my EPC was crap.

    Something happened.

I saw the following IP accessed over 100MB of my band-witdh in last few days. It is a different IP - 194.242.43.13. But note the common things like RIPE.net and APNIC. I think another site copier on the rise.

So it sounds like some of your are affected by some spider out there that may be clicking on your CJ links as well. From our data this is not affecting very many publishers since overall clicks are within noraml parameters.

I am not sure what else I can say or do for you. If we find out that this is a publisher spidering your sites, we would either warn them to stop inflating clicks or terminate their account depending on the severity of the issue. I'll see if Network Quality can find anything.

    Thanks

    Thanks Todd.

What I am most worried about is CJ de-activating me thinking I am inflating clicks. That is why I brought it to your attention, and e-mailed CJ support over this.

A reply from CJ - thanks Garrett

CJ said that the number of clicks was due to Alexa spidering me.

Not sure if it was true, but at least I feel more comfortable knowing that I was not the victim of a site copier or BHO.

Still getting lots more clicks than normal while CJ sales drop. Oddly, my independent sales are going up. Who knows what is going on? Customers must just be liking my non CJ links this week.

We couldn't trace it back to any publisher accounts. This IP is an open proxy, so chances are it is someone up to no good, if they are going through open proxies to spider sites.
