When did AltaVista go to Inktomi style paid inclusion? (pay per URL)

And has anyone tried it?

And does anyone know who they partner with (like Inktomi partners with MSN, AOL)?

Unless they have changed the way they do it
my experience with it was not good.I was already listed but I tried their program to attempt to get better position. The only problem is they spider your url every week and you may gain or get a pretty good ranking one week and lose the next and what's
really bad I actually lost positions the first couple of weeks from my original position. So you have people ahead of you that haven't paid a dime and they don't seem to move ( at least not down).I don't like it
and I would have to check my stats for the six month period but I paid a great price per click for what traffic I did get.

Does AltaVista show subscribers click stats like Inktomi does (or any stats)?

Also, where do AltaVista search listings appear (besides AltaVista).

Thanks

I forgot to mention -- it's also more expensive than Inktomi (MUCH more expensive for the first 10 URLs).

Six months (as opposed to Inktomi 1 year) subscriptions cost:
1st URL $39.00
URLs #2-10 $29.00 each
URLs #11-500 $19.00 each

Does anybody have any idea of AV's traffic level and number of searches?

oh nevermind...

quote:
In order to maintain the integrity of the search index, we must sometimes exclude
submissions that manipulate search results. Examples of such manipulation include, but
are not limited to, the following:

[snip]

-- Pages that contain only links to other pages, or
-- Pages whose primary intent is to redirect users to another page.

Although that would seem to exclude ALL directory sites.
