I've kind of run out of steam promoting Spam the Engines.

I've submitted to a few directories and am in ODP (with a star), I've won a *Gold* award from this site.

My main problem is that it works really well when posted on message boards, but when I post it almost always get deleted immediately (probably due to the fact that's its my first post, and it looks like Spam, it is Spam!!)

I intend to blitz some of the big nerdy news sites just before April 1st, hopefully some/one will pick up on it.

Anyone got any other ideas, sites I should try?

I've got two versions:

No. 1 'for brave folk'
Spam the Engines, This unique WEB service, helps promote your WEB site by removing your competitors from search engine listings.

No. 2 'for more timid types'
Spam the Engines, Immoral unethical but fortunately a spoof. This service 'claims' to remove WEB sites from the search engine listings. Wind-up your WEB master mates by pretending you've entered their URL

Or you could go here: http://www.geocities.com/spamtheengines/linkto.html

You could try Slashdotor The Register - they might run with it for an April 1st thing.

I guess most webmastery boards would run with it if you contacted the site owners directly with a proposal for an April 1st windup

Spam the Engines was created as part of a competition and one of the rules was Geocities Free Space.

When the compo is over I will probably do it properly.

I don't know but I don't like the idea of spamming the SE for getting read of the concurence. I don't know if ya were happy if I enter your URL and use your own invention against you?!

Am I the only one here who has some honour left (probably not good for business)?

It doesn't work? Really? Haven't even tried that form on the page but I guess something like this could be done, don't you?

C4 sorry for putting the fear of God into you
Would it work?
I think not for several reasons
1) It would be a legal nightmare for anyone setting up such a scheme.
2) SEs would very quick cotton on and ignore submittions from it (they are probably ignoring multiple submittions at the moment, its easier to program)
3) Google actually say it would not work:
Google Facts n Fiction

It was done as part of a competition and it creates quite a stir when posted on message boards (if it doesn't get deleted)
