A lot of advertisers provide links to pages with multiple non-paying links. The 'Get HTML' page has an option to deep-link for most websites, but some don't have it. Is there any way of deep-linking with a URL such as the one below please? Can I add a URL tag anywhere to the code?

    Thanks.

Two years later and I have exactly the same question! Anyone?

E.g. wish to link to this page:
    http://www.eharlequin.com/cms/online...ype=LovePoetry

using a link such as this one:
    http://www.************/94116uoxuowB...om-Monthly-Feb

    Cheers

You need to establish if the merchant allows url redirects...if they do then all you need to do is add ?url=merchanturllinkpage after your CJ link...that's how I've been doing my pages.

Thank you Oscar. Tried what you said on a few eHarlequin links, but they just redirect to the home page Annoying.

Also, I note that in this thread Todd Crawford states:

"I do not recommend that you manipulate link code as detailed in this post. It may not track correctly or redirect as desired. You should use the tools in the members area that CJ provides."

Frustrating, because we have been deeplinking with other networks for years; doesn't always create the best user experience by linking to the home page of a merchant's site.

I'm guessing that the when you click SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS, the merchant isn't offering the ability to change the destination URL.

I have one merchant that doesn't offer that ability, but because they do offer links to some products, I've been able to make my own redirects work. Does the merchant have ANY product links available? If so, somewhere in the code is something link the item=2344545 (some number which relates to the landing page). Then all you have to do is replace that number with the one for the page you want to redirect to.

You could also write to the merchant and ask them to create links for you for the specific products you want to promote. I've had merchants do that for me in the past.

I guess it boils down to this. If the merchant only offers their homepage as the landing page, they aren't very serious about wanting you to make sales. They just want the free advertising. A good merchant will work with you and get you the links you need to have people land on a product page you are promoting.

I also have a merchant who allows redirects, but the AM couldn't tell me how to do it. I finally figured out from looking at the code from another merchant that went to a specific product page.

    Right after: click- xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx

    Add this: ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.merchant name.com/page name

    Finally worked for me.

A suggestion. Approach the program manager and see if they will enable deep linking. There are various reasons that some do not allow this - most often because they track via "doorway" pages, so they limit the number of landing pages in order to track correctly.

I can't put my finger on it, but I believe a car rental merchant on CJ has this ability thru only one link, but my convertions fell in the crapper after they redesigned their site a few months ago when using that link.

Submit this information to AAQ and ask someone to investigate the tracking.
