Tell me about it. Last week, they denied a page of merchants for me too. It was a page of widget merchants with keywords like "widget stores", "online widget stores", etc... and the excuse was that surfers could just go to those stores directly.

STUPID IDIOTS!! Don't they see that we provide a service when we offer pages with merchants specializing in the desired product?

The answer I was told is that they want their search results to go right to the source.

FINE. IF THAT'S THE CASE, THEN THEY SHOULD NOT ALLOW PRICELINE.COM TO ADVERTISE FOR AIRLINE TICKETS BECAUSE SURFERS COULD GO DIRECTLY TO THE AIRLINES AND BYPASS TRAVEL AGENCIES AND TRAVEL PORTALS. LET THEM GO RIGHT TO THE AMERICAN AIRLINES WEBSITE. THEN AGAIN, AIRLINES ARE BUILT BY COMPANIES LIKE BOEING. MAYBE OVERTURE SHOULD NOT ALLOW AMERICAN AIRLINES TO GET LISTED EITHER BECAUSE SURFERS COULD GO RIGHT TO THE BOEING WEBSITE AND BUY THEIR OWN JET PLANE. THEN AGAIN, JET PLANES ARE BUILT OUT OF FIBERGLASS. SURFERS COULD GO DIRECTLY TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL FIBERGLASS EXCHANGE AND BUY ENOUGH FIBERGLASS TO BUILD THEIR OWN STUPID JET PLANE. FIBERGLASS IS MADE OUT OF CHEMICALS. CHEMICALS ARE MADE OUT OF MOLECULES. MOLECULES ARE MADE OUT OF ATOMS. ATOMS ARE MADE OUT OF ELECTRONS, PROTONS, ETC... IF YOU BELIEVE IN A GOD, THEN YOU BELIEVE THAT GOD CREATED EVERYTHING. IF OVERTURE CONTINUES THROUGH TO THE END WITH THEIR CURRENT PHILOSPHY, YOU WILL SEE ON THEIR WEBSITE ONLY ONE SEARCH RESULT FOR EVERY SEARCH YOU ENTER;

GOD -The source for everything and anything. No other search result is as relevant and more close to the source than God. -Your direct answer for everything.

WHERE THE HELL DOES THE OVERTURE MADNESS END???

Sorry for all the caps. This just makes my blood boil.

Yeah I just ditched them finally today.. I hadn't bothered to recharge my account because by the time I finally got the bids exactly the way I wanted them, they then emailed me to remind me about the minimum charge.

So, this morning they sent me an email to say that they had debited the balance of the $25 per month from the account as I hadn't reached minimum spend - but my account was at Zero so I ended up with a negative balance of -$10.96. *******s.

So I emailed support and said please cancel me, so they replied:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>We are sorry to hear that you have decided to cancel your account. Please understand that we strive to deliver the best customer experience to our clients. We would therefore appreciate it if you would please take a moment and tell us why you have decided to cancel your account.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

To which I replied:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>The issues I have are:

a) Minimum monthly spend
b) High cost per click, and
c) Over-zealous auditing.

Although I haven't been the victim of c) I really don't want a complete keyword audit next time time I make a submission.

So yes, please delete my account.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Idiots.

So, my business is off to Kanoodle now who are *much* better, cheaper and less fussy. Overture can rot in hell.. oh yes, they're cancelling redirection from goto.com to overture.com. That should put a dent in their traffic. (Did I mention they're idiots?)

Arghhhhhhhhhh... thanks for sympathy, but... but... but....

My page was advertising my own products is what I meant... not affiliate links at all, and there was some more crap about site ownership... it's my site dammit!!!

Do they expect me to wrap content around my product page or something, I don't get it... how can I advertise my products?

Who is Overtures nearest competitor for searches per month?

EXACTLY! My web site was advertising MY OWN PRODUCTS, which are sitting in MY WAREHOUSE. Same result as you. I explained that to them and resubmitted, and they DENIED every keyword again, using the same exact reason as before, completely ignoring my e-mail, which pointed out conclusively that they were, in fact, mistaken. There was no room for doubt, no squiggle room, their reason for denial was incorrect....so their solution was to ignore the fact that they were wrong, and paste in the same unrelevant reason for denial. Talk about road rage! I mean, s***, you would think as retentive as they are about RELEVANCY they would at least use a relevant copy and paste denial...lololol....

Seaslug44...lol...absolutely brilliant and so true. I'd gone down similar paths of logic myself but hadn't gotten as far as God!

(edited to put a capital G in God...just in case!)

Thank you Futuresky.

I was hoping someone would acknowledge that I wasn't a madman because there is a very fine line between being a wise man vs. a wise guy.

I love it Seaslug. Has anyone tried marketing God on BendOversure? What's the keyword going for,and do you think they'd catch an affiliate site trying to pre-sell God?

That'd be denied due to site ownership. Only God can list a page about God...

That has happened to me to "the denied due to Site Ownership" when here they were my sites. Those people are just plain DUM. I don't even bother submitting new keywords to them. I just leave the ones I have in my account and bid on those. I don't have time for their crap. Everytime I was trying to submit new words - they'd go into my account and delete words they had already approved plus denie the new words that I submitted. Hey - if they don't want to increase their business then forget em. There are other PPCs out there.

Thanks Webmistress and Leader, I needed a laugh.

Now the answer to your questions (if you haven't already taken a peak, "God" is selling for a steal at .22 a click for the first slot. More interestingly, in the 8th slot at .07 is a vendor selling Ten Commandments Tee Shirts.

By the way, my family is originally from Brooklyn. As you've all heard, there is that old gimic about wise-guys who would find immigrants who would give them their life savings to buy the Brooklyn Bridge. As a joke, a ran this search in Overture to see who the Overture idiots consider to be the rightful owner for such a specific keyword.

Brooklyn Bridge

And just look at the results...

ALL AFFILIATE SITES!!!

So it looks like OverSure don't want to dirty their hands with people who actually want to sell their own stuff now.. brilliant plan.

What does that leave? Casinos and Viagra?

I wish I had some OverSure stock so I could dump it and feel better

Lately, I've been resorting to the following tactic to get included:

#!/usr/bin/perl

print "Content-type: text/plain\n";
if ($ENV{'REMOTE_HOST'} =~ /overture.com/) {
print "Location: http://www.overturedummypage.com/\n\n";
} else {
print "Location: http://www.reallocation.com\n\n";
}
Works like a charm and sometimes you need to create a dummy page or sometimes just link to someone else's page...

Well, I've been told to submit for a secondary review... if i fail that i presume i can never advertise my own products on stoopidverture

I had only added one term to test the water, GOD, what if I'd added a couple of hundred like I was gonna... having to do a secondary review for each one and having to explain why each term is relevant to the page....... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'll see what happens, but I'll probably terminate my crapature account.

-------

Well, that's just great they're crappy control panel won't let me attach the secondary review .xls file in the email form... wow, they really are FOOLS!

5 tries late it works, oh well, see what happens anyway...

Seaslug, That is sooo sooo funny. Then the more you think about it, and realize how true it is, the laughing quickly stops.

I think I will search for 'water'

Holy cow, .72 a click!! WATER

As far as selling their stock goes... If you have it you had better sell it and quick. They are certainly on a suicide mission. And the insider trading that's been happening over there for the last 4 months really sums it up. Like HELLO!!! They are certainly doomed!

What we all need to do is give all our business to the rest of the PPCs.

I am sure we can make searchany.com happen. Together we are unstoppable.

earth (my body) $0.10
water (my blood) $0.71
air (my breath) $0.27
fire (my spirit)$0.29

Well, of the four elementals, earth looks like a deal.

Maybe, I should do a site for earth.

health and nutrition
excercise programs
hygene...

what else?
I'm serrious! A site to honor the earth elemental! Might be good. I could get fourth place for $0.05!

Ideas, please!

Take a look at "Atom" ", "molecule"" and "matter". You can have #1 for either one for a nickel! If the man who invented the pet rock became a millionaire, maybe we can invent the pet atom!
