    YUCK.

Lots of changes on 2 and 3 (don't fault me if they revert to old indices by the time you check) and for me, I'm dropping 5-10 places on all my top keywords.

Okay, not all. But a SIGNIFICANT number.

MAY may just be a slow month.

I'm seeing changes too but I won't comment on them yet out of fear of jinxing it.

    JINX JINX JINX.

    (just kidding...)

I'm going to have to do some serious studying if this one sticks. I got to keep some good stuff, moved up on others, and am losing a WHOLE lot of ground on others.

I'm hoping this ones better than the last because I got shafted on that one. I'm probably gonna "jinx" this one by saying that it looks promising so far (for me anyway).

I'm gonna regret saying that.

Hmmm.. 27 Dec, 26 Jan, 20 Feb, 7 Apr, 26 Apr are the last updates give or take a day or so.

One of my sites has dropped completely, but that's one with hardly any Google traffic anyway. I've got a *lot* more inbound links to my sites though.

Gone is all I can say.My site is gone from google after having a good listing for over a year. The sad part is I don't know why.
I'm really weary of this search engine game
and after doing my taxes this year I realized
that there is no excuse for not spending more money on traffic or anything else for that matter on web business related items.
So it's the old fashion way for me from now on, buy traffic. If I can just find somewhere
to buy some targeted traffic for a sports related site.

Dude, don't give up on the free traffic.

Google penalized me big time on the last index.

A new plan hatched -> give the search engines what they want: content. That means free traffic and less exposure to se fluctuations.

So far, I revamped one site completely in a hurry, and it is about to pay off big time: we already got a free ODP listing, a free Zeal listing, and a FREE Yahoo listing.

Yahoo accepted into a category that was thirsting for new sites in less than one week.

    Internet_Guru,

are you saying that you got into Dmoz this month ? Have you checked at the (www2)Google directory that this listing is included ?

I have a couple of suggestions and ideas depending on your reply.

I had thought that your fall may be partly due to no match up between the Dmoz listing and your main search terms, but there is a clear match between them.

My thinking is this: this is a competitive area and there are at least 4 new sites in the top ten, including a subdomain of Britannica.com and another major jobs portal. While you have fallen from #4 to #16, others have fallen further, so I would conclude that if you haven't tweaked your home page much (and it looks that way from comparing caches) that you haven't really fallen at all - others with more weight have risen.

Basically, the extra weight given by the Dmoz listing hasn't been enough to sustain a top ten listing this month. Don't change a thing on the home page would be my advice, but try to get some relevant links from employment related sites using something like this as the anchor(link) text:

HotHRD - your free resume search

Concentrate your efforts on this in the next few days (the quicker the better) and you should reap the rewards.

Was there truly a new index, and not just ranking fluctuations? I ask because none of my new sites have made the index. I have a few from over 2 months ago that still haven't gotten in. Hmmmmm

Well I thought I had cracked it <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon10.gif> when I did the standard check for "Glasgow Taxi" in the google search and it brought up my site as number on listing. An hour latter and it was gone.

My other site still lists top with "Private Hire" but I would really like to get the "Glasgow Taxi" back again.

Also lost some of my pages, even though I have been adding meta tages, sorting page names etc out.

Ah such is life on this wonderful thing we call the internet or was that madhouse.

    regards
    John
