Been so busy watching sales going down, blaming WhenU and trying to fix it with framed pages, the code to stop it, etc., that paid no attention to my Extreme tracker info or Server logs.

Now found that my traffic has gone down at least 75% on all my formerly "good hit" pages. And it was just one great big drop on April 25th and hasn't stopped dropping.

I lost Google and Google/Yahoo when I "accidently" joined two link farms a year ago, dropping Farms didn't help, but Inkotomi sites from using PositionTech made up for it and AltaVista free listings were suddenly good again.

Was there some major drastic change at that time, was it my framing pages or using the codes to stop WhenU, or Something? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I subscribe to Planet Ocean, SearchEngineWatch subscribers, and can't find anything to answer this there.

Anyone here know anything or noticed the same thing?

Upset, bothered, and bewildered, am I!

Ditto, Totter! Hope someone answers your question soon because the same thing has happenen to us. Same time. I still don't understand Morpheus. Does that steal hits right from the SE listings, like LookSmart does with it's Yellow underlines?

PS .. BTW it's "BeWitched, Bothered, and BeWildered, am I!) Patti Page song from a from a long time ago. Think it was Patti Page anyway. Your substitution of "upset" fits very well though, unless all the folks here are youngun's!

Totter,

It could be Morpheus if they are Paid listings with keywords for any of the listed merchants.

Karin,

Watch the videos on http://www.abestweb.com/parasiteware.com they explain what and how Morpheus/Streamcast does.

I believe AOL is now using Google instead
of Inktomi for Search Results. Could
be why your traffic has gone down.

how do you get ban from google by joining a linkfarm?

and what is a linkfarm that can cause google to ban you exactly??

is that a perminant ban??

i thought google can ban you for things that are only under you control, i mean someone else can add your site to a link farm can't he??

A link farm is an automated link trading service such as links4trade, links4u, and others by similar monikers.
I tried one once and din't really derive any benefit from it (about a dozen hits to my site from a page with about 30 link partners on it)
When my site disappeared from the google directory, I got a little paranoid and removed it from my site. Several days later googlebot crawled my site and several of my pages started appearing much higher in search results. Whether removal of the link farm was a factor or not, who knows, but it was the only change I had made to my site before the most recent crawl.

By the way, I replaced the "links" link with an affiliate link to Abestweb; now I'm 5 cents richer!

i see, is a ffalp considered a link farm also?

i have one from cgiforme.com on my website, but in the last weeks it's getting flooded with porn links!$!#@$%

can it effect my website or ban it from google?

i think i'm going to remove that ffalp soon.....

Yes the ffa link page is pretty much the same thing, with the exception that it probably doesn't genrate any relevant inbound links to your site. You'll get a LOT of porn and scam-type stuff posted on those.
At least with the "link trade" type deals you have some control over who you trade links with.
Google frowns upon any type of link farm activity.
The link farms themselves most likely won't generate substantial traffic for you, so you'd be better off to ditch them, and keep your nose clean for the google eyes.
Is there really a choice between the two?
If google drops you from their index you're screwed.
