Not only CJ still delays the solution, but simple tech problems keep coming, now we also have the Norton issue unsolved too...

The only solution and the simplest one too is:

DELETE THAT FILE YOU DON'T NEED IT.

This is what you should do and what you should tell your customers.

You might not need that file carneol, but others may. It's a legitimate system file with legitimate purposes. I don't know if I want to recommend to my visitors that they delete system files nor do I won't to be responsible if my visitor does that and then all of a sudden their Parent Control software no longer works and little Sally is being whisked away to porn sites. It would be nice to hear an update from CJ about where things stand. The fix for the host file issue was promised something like 2 or 3 upgrades ago. The first part of the summer. They've also said they were working on the Norton's issue. A realistic ETA on resolution would be appreciated.

Ms. B is right. Deleting the file isn't the solution to the problem. I would be very suspicious of a site that told me to go into my computer and start deleting files. That file most likely does block a few worthwhile things, although I haven't looked at it.

CJ does need to get these issues resolved, I am not adding any new CJ merchants, and have started dropping a few of them because of poor performance. Strangely enough, their replacements on other networks or independent programs are performing very well.

But of course that doesn't have anything to do with CJ...and a tracking problem conspiracy...or the fact that other publishers in the network can steal my commissions with CJ's approval...or the fact that a certain percentage of people never see the CJ ads on my site...

All very serious issues that demand attention. And quickly. CJ is dragging its feet and/or overlooking what's really going on. They need to get with it. Quickly.

I agree with B & Andy ... DO NOT recommend any viewer to delete files from their computer. As B stated ... their are possible ramifications on advising the viewer to do this .. not to mention computer warranty issues if problem arises from the viewers actions based on your recommendation.

Andy .. your right about CJ (for us anyway). We have been slowly replacing CJ merchants with our own products, or another service and these products are now selling where as before .. all clicks .. few sales.

Ms B. I agree with you concerning the Parental Controle. But there must be other solutions on that. I would also agree with you, when I alone get controle of that file, and entries were only made if I am asked. But this file is captured by a suspicious program that inserts whatever it wants, and no one knows how others can use this file by a javascript or something else. The problems for me are much bigger than the advantages of that file.

That's thanks to Windows poor security model. The only way to fix that problem would be to convince everyone to upgrade to Linux or Mac. Boy, would all our commission levels pump up if Windows disappeared off the face of the planet!
