    There was a study done of all the top ranking sites and none of them had the .shtml extension, i don't why.

    I hope its a false alarm. I have 200 new pages up as a spider trap that are completely useless for sales until I sort them out.

    They were thieved from a pdf catalog and the paragraphs in them seem to be in a random order until they get unscrambled by hand.

    There are going to be a lot of disappointed shoppers unless I get my ass in gear fast.

    Re: .shtml - there is no reason why shtml pages shouldn't rank highly. I have a client that uses them and they do pretty well.

    Don't believe any of this stuff about certain extensions not ranking as high as others. I have sites in Google with extensions like .aspi. Think about it, why would any search engine penalise a site that uses .shtml, .php or anything else. It has nothing to do with relevance and that is all they are supposed to care about.

    My .shtml pages do just fine. Looks like that study just didn't study the right terms.
