Some of you might say duh but I think it's a good reminder or refresher
Go to google and do a search exactly like this.
( Your keywords add link )
example if you have a jobs site then you search for jobs add link
I just used this method last night to get about 20 good links to my site. I could have done more but ran out of time. I like to carefully study the site I'm adding my link to. You can pick and choose by their Page Rank, amount of links already indexed, quality of site and file extensions they use to list your site.
Another thing for those who don't mind lesser quality or general links, you can do a search for "provided by Matts script archive links" and you'll find all kinds of sites who use Matts link.cgi scripts which aren't like regular ffa scripts because most of these sites are very small and you don't get removed within 5 minutes after you submit. Remember you found this site in google so you know it's not a site that google has booted for wrong doings.

Hey there Heyder!
Yep bringing back a few oldies but goodies is a great idea! Especially for the newbies looking for new tried and tested ideas that arn't quite so new. (and for those veteran's who may have forgotten some of the basics)
Maybe Hako could add an archive of read only marketing ideas and tips of the past?
Well done.
