Since AOL is now showing Google results, I don't see as much reason to pay for Ink's PPI.

Anyone else? Is MSN alone worth it?

I would say it depends how many hits you get from MSN and if those hits convert to sales. I do not know how you find this out though.

We never rank well on AOL through Inktomi, but we do on MSN, so I'd say for us it is still worth paying Inktomi. If you don't do well with MSN, then you are probably right, it is not worth it.

AOL was one of my main sources of free traffic via Inktomi Inclusion. As far as I am concerned Google can go eat Tofu!

I'm only getting about 1% of my hits from each of the Inktomi search engines (AOL, MSN, Hotbot). I get about 22% of my hits from Google. Given that comparison, do you think it would be a good idea for me to pay for a Inktomi submission?

    Dynamoo,

Given that information it would be wise to tell me and the rest of the world how to get a page to rank anywhere on google?

I think it is a matter of product and demographics. I've got 5 URLs currently in Inktomi - 2 on one site that have been in Ink for a few months, and 3 on another site that for all intents and purposes is a "new" site. One page on the new site has gotten more MSN traffic traffic in one month - converting traffic - than the other 4 pages combined. The 2 pages on the other site get plenty of traffic from both AOL and MSN, but not from buyers. Yet the same 2 pages get lots of Google traffic that converts.

That one page that is getting loads of traffic from MSN and converting, is apparently selling what MSN users are looking to buy. The other pages are selling product that Google users are looking to buy. Demographics.

I get more MSN than AOL traffic on my inktomi indexes. At least a 10 to 1 ratio.

In fact I would even prefer not to have the inktomi feed to AOL, as long as it is google that is replacing it. And slurpy will still be my best friend.

I'd say, too soon to tell.

My best guess? Absolutely worth it. MSN has always sent me significantly more traffic than AOL and those people buy the stuff I'm selling.

Don't get me wrong -- I'll be watching the situation closely.

I say Inktomi is definitely still worth the money.

MSN clients buy my stuff. AOL = All Only Looking.

The AOL switch to google will make all the "lookers" heads spin! So much new to look at!...

Definitely include Inktomi in your budget. The 48 hour spider is worth the money alone!
