Seems like what you see on www2 and www3 will be it. I also just check AOL search at both aol.com and the start page for aol users, and Yahoo (the part that uses Google) and they are using the www2 and www3 index already. I think tody it will switch over to the main google. So that looks to be about it.

Hmmn...we'll see. If you're right, that's the fastest update I ever seen. I'm not saying you are wrong exactly, as there has been a lot of shuffling on Google all month and I think they are moving towards faster updates but usually the backward links/PR stuff doesn't get factored in until after about 4 days.

Start page for AOL users ? I guess he means http://aolsearch.aol.com .

I know, just got a little too excited about this update. The aol start page is if you have AOL. When i bought a new comp a few months ago it came with AOL free for a year, but i already had cable. On the AOL start page theres a little search box on the upper right of screen.

http://aolsearch.aol.com . That url is one anybody can get to. When i say AOL start page, i mean if you have AOL as your isp, when you first log on, the first page you see. Theres an aol search box on the page and at first those results were different from the aol.com results. Today i checked yahoo secondary (google) and both aol searches and they are both using the www3 index

Yes, I know that www.aol.com and the start page for real aol users is different. However, the URL I posted is the search URL for real AOL users. The other one is http://search.aol.com.

Trust me on this, I know what I'm talking about

I know they are two different URLs - that's my point.
http://aolsearch.aol.com - this is the search used by AOL users while they are using AOL. This is the one that drives traffic and you need to rank in.
http://search.aol.com - this is the search you can access at www.aol.com.

When it was Inktomi powering AOL, the results from these two were very different.

I'm definitely seeing a lot more AOL search traffic in my logs. My site has always been listed in AOL, but not to the extent it is on Google.

I've also noticed a lot more activity recently from Slurp, the Inktomi spider. I haven't paid to submit or anything, why do you suppose the increased interest?

Seems as though page rank has dropped a notch overall.

Anyone else?

I don't know if it's because of the dance or not but I had a lot more visitors so far this weekend than I usually do
