I have a shopping mall and I just made a page for Christmas. I would like to put links on the bottom of the page to my jewlelry, gift baskets and similar gift pages. Would this be looked down upon by google? The only link I have on this page is to my home page other than affiliate links.

Cazzie,

I don't see why this would be a problem. I've done similiar things on many of my sites and still have good rankings on my keywords, good PR etc.

Cazzie, it's your site, you can link pages however you like and put these links in whichever part of the page you like.

No that should be fine. I have a mall type site too and have a category list on every page to the other pages on my site. For your visitors tho, you seem to be saying in order to navigate to another page on your site, they have to go back to the home page every time?

Yes Johnnie,
When I fist started I did have a nav bar on all the pages, then as I started adding more and more pages it mean't going back and redoing the pages to add the additional categories that I added and then uploading them. (Not very advanced here when it comes to using scripts) Then when the flack with google happened a few months back and some sites got PR0 (Some people said it had to do with how you used your links.) I said the heck with it and now just use a home page link. End of my story

I think as long as the robot reads it as a navigation menu and not a spam trick then you're safe

Cazzie - why not use Sever Side Includes (SSI) to include the same nav bar at the top of every page?

That way, you only have to update the one copy and all of your pages will show the updated nav bar.
