Can anyone explain this to me?

I have 3 listings on Findwhat. Each listing has a keyword that according to the Keyword Center pulls in aprox 5,000 searches/month and each is at #1 position for that keyword. Why is it then that one listing gets about 50 hits/day and the other two get just about 5 hits/day?

Also I am finding more and more that biding high is no guarantee that you will receive more traffic. On one of the search terms I was spending $0.05 at fifth position and getting 5/hits a day but now I seem to be spending $0.12 in first position for the same number of clicks!

It's a crazy world at FindWhat

Hey Snoop -

I think the numbers they publish are for searches, rather than clicks.

I've seen the same sort of results. Try tweaking the site descriptions.

So you think there is no correlation between the number of searches and the number of clicks? Wouldn't you think that if "computer speakers" and "hedge trimmers" both recieved 10,000 searches/month that at #1 positions their #hits/day would be fairly similar?

This was awhile ago but when we used the FW search suggestion tool (or whatever it is called), it was completely worthless. We were #1 under a keyword that supposedly got 15,000 searches a month, so we expected a corresponding number of clicks and instead got a trickle. I've just never found FW's tool reliable.

I recall seeing something from Overture - back when they were GoTo - it was something along the lines of the top three positions getting a majority of the clicks.

But I am not sure what percent of people click at all upon making a search.

Personally, I search for stuff all the time, and I'd say 1/4 to 1/3 of the time, I don't see anything I like, and try a different search engine.

I tried yesterday to search for a magazine's home page, to advertise in it.

Typed in the name, the first 70 listings were people trying to sell me a subscription to the magazine...... I just gave up.

After FindWhat shafted their affiliates by droopping their program before payout time I don't pay them any attention. I'm not seeding a new PPC parasite to be born like Looksmart and all the other 2nd tier SE's. Let the buggers play their shifting sand games as they try to drain accounts with side deals and no real targeted traffic benefits.

Till we see the networks muzzle the BHO parasites the SE's are all suspect to going on the "darkside" looking to monitize their clients listings with their own affiliate ID#s..they see Morpheus and others getting away with monitizing all merchant listings and want in on the commission thievery.

I'm not having any problem with the editors.
FW has brought me 2334 vistors this month for one service that has a gross of $540.

Fraud clicks were eliminated months ago when we stopped bidding on 2 core phrases.
