I have already submitted couple urls to them, but I'm having trouble figuring out what catagory my main site at http://www.freebiesforever.com should be submitted to? my site has nothing to do with freebies now, all products now. Can you all checkout my site and give me your opinion on what catagory should I submit too at Dmoz

    Thanks

    Jason,

Sorry to be the on to say this, you have a very little chance getting listed in dmoz.org.

They "don't like" affiliate sites, and they "hate" sites without good amount of content.

always worth a try, and good luck!

dmoz in general does not accept affiliate sites. If your site contains content, with affiliate links, you may have a chance. You may want to have someone with a grasp of the English language submit for you, as they are kind of picky about that as well.

I understand their policies, and agree. Who needs a directory full of sites with nothing more than affiliate links? Look at the cesspool that yahoo became. However, some editors have gone to the opposite extreme and seem to be on a mission to eliminate anyone involved in affiliate marketing period! Grr!

Good Luck, but I wouldn't expend any effort on it.

Just make a quick site, put some content on it, submit it. If you get in, link to your affiliate site.

Actually, I did see a directory category that was nothing but affiliate sites thinly disguised as "directories" with no content or "added value" whatsoever. The only links were affiliate links.

So I decided to submit my site. Will keep you all informed as to whether or not it gets included.

In addition, just make sure the category you want to submit to has an editor. You can wait forever to get a listing if there isn't one.

Of course any editor adding their own affiliate site will be spotted pretty quickly and your ODP editing career would be over sharpish.

I don't even bother anymore. Quality reciprocal links will help you more than a DMOZ listing. The directory has had it's day. I have several competitive #1 positions in GG without a DMOZ or Yahoo directory listing. The web is a big place. Seek and ye shall find.
