google will surely be dumped at the end of their contract for ink

    WOW.

I do hope this means all my listings aren't going to cost $300 a shot now, instead of $25, lol.

i honestly think that yahoo will up the prices of the url submissions to inktomi in the long term - theyll find some way of milking more money out of webmasters

Wonder if the Inktomi SE links will be marked ..."powered by Yahoo"? Sponsored links then will be ranked by revenue from a mix of Overture and google Adwords.

Bad news for me since my pages are Google optimised, but on the other hand it gives Google some competition which is good.

Bad for me now since i do great in Google but good in the long run. I wish other SE's would rise up, i don't think 1 search engine should dominate the internet.

everyone is speaking as if google will go downhill - google will still provide the best results and will still dominate the search engine traffic - in the next year or so anyways

I think nobody can realy predict the impact of this whole thing.

Yahoo will probably use inktomi for their web search results instead of google.
That is a blow to everybody who focused on Google.

The use of Google at Yahoo and AOL was a blessing for everybody who spent all his time to improve ranking at Google.

Affilates/Sites well listed at Google worry and Affilates/Sites well listed in Inktomi Search Results hail now.

But all that is not the interesting part of the story in my opinion.

More interesting to me is, what happens next. Inktomi was pretty much an "independent" search service, which provided it's content to various Web Portals like Looksmart, MSN, Hotbot and others. Inktomi itself was never a portal or a Search Engine.

It was now bought by a Web Portal, Yahoo.
What will be the reaction of the Web Portals, who are Yahoo competitors and Customers of Inktomi?

The year 2003 will be interesting.
