Hello everyone, I'm new to these parts. Really getting a lot from the forum here, and hope to contribute when I have something useful to say.

I have a problem with CJ.com and I don't think I got the correct answer from their support staff. I want to be able to create my own links, for example I make my own graphic and want to link that up to a certain product. I assumed I could generate a link from within the CJ area, as I have been, and then chop the bit I need from the HTML code.

Here's an example of what I've been doing.

    1) I go to generate links.
    2) Find the advertiser and click 'view links'.
    3) Check the text link box and click 'get html'.

I then get something like this:

    <a href="http://www.qksrv.net/click-1348247-5529577" target="_top" >Gioie.it - Gioielli Online</a><img src="http://www.qksrv.net/image-1348247-5529577" width="1" height="1" border="0">

And I copy this part as my link:

    http://www.qksrv.net/click-1348247-5529577

I can use this between the a href " " bits...

Now I was told today that this would not track commissions by someone at CJ.com. I think they could be getting mixed up. My method would not track banner impressions perhaps (because I'm not calling the script with the 1x1 image) but surely it would track sales?

If anyone can make sense of this, or help, I'd really appreciate it.

    thanks everyone.

Changing links is against the TOS and merchants can pay for this or not. If you will alter the links, you have to ask the merchant first.

Some advice right away - do not post your PID most people just place XXXXX in that location.

    As for your question:

What you’re trying to do will work.

This is what you may run into:
1.You are not authorized to use that image with that link

    2. We are seeing no tracking while we notice tons of clicks, this is invalid you will not be paid.

And who knows what other problem you may get from the merchants. Disney almost dropped me because they were getting sales and traffic but no impressions. I explained I was using a Database to push their links. After a conversation all was well, but it can cause issues when you change links.

Its on if you to change the links, remember a merchant can decide not to pay you if you do. It’s in the contract and as a warning on the CJ interfaces EVERYWHERE.
