    Hello,

I have site with PR6 in google and nice position for important keywords. All pages are html. I'm planning to redesigne site and change all pages to asp. Will it affect my rank/position?

    Thanks

Well, the answer is, um, possibly.

You will need to set up an .htaccess file to ensure that spiders looking for page1.html are redirected to page1.asp, that's for sure.

If the pages are essentially the same but with a different extension then the ranks should remain the same. However, if you have very complex query strings, you might find that the PageRank passed through to these pages changes, causing a drop in rankings.

Without seeing the type of URLs you will have, I can't be more definitive than that.

But if my site is listed as www.mydomain.com/ spider comes and found index.htm and links from it. If I change index.htm to index.asp, spider will find index.asp and all other pages from it, right?

I don't think .htaccess is supported by IIS.

There are URL rewrite tools for IIS which function the same as apache's mod_rewrite ...You have to research a bit...

Here are some IIS rerwrite tools
