Perhaps you've lost some incoming links, perhaps those incoming links lost value themselves resulting in less PR filtered down to you. This forum isn't where you'll find the best answers, the best site for google info is at webmaster world and then go the google news forum.

You may even recognize some people there.

maybe site have gone down in page rank for this recent update few days ago. They tweak their algo. They put down weight on low quality links, such as links from guestbooks, forums, links from site interlinking ...

It seems like a big drop, but PageRank isn't actually a number between 1 and 10 (according the the experts), but is more detailed than that.

You might find that you dropped from a 5.0 to 4.9, so just get back to work on accruing some more inbounds and you should be OK.

You know you're REALLY in trouble if you get PageRank 0.

Or you could just work on the quality of your site and wait for people to naturally link you..

PR definitely seems down across the board this update... eh

Hmm...mine has about 200 pages and it's one heck of a site i believe
I guess some of those inbound links have been cheating on me. They deleted my link on their sites while I still have them linked from mine.

Anyway, mine's still belongs in a better league, check this link popularity engine out http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/

IMHO what we are seeing with the Google ranking is a direct outcome of them changing their formula to prevent companies like SearchKing who negotiate High PR link trades and are currently attempting to sue google for preventing them from spamming googles search results. IMHO Google is having very little trouble defending themselves against SearchKing.

SearchKing's exchanges went as high as PR8 and after Googles reformulisation dropped down to 4.

As the exact formula is a closely guarded secret and google is not required to release it we can but guess at its current state.

I can however show you older known formulas of google if you are interested.

I believe that their new formula weights incomings heavily on content relevancy now instead of just PR.

    Hope this helps.

    redsand,
Sorry, wasn't commenting on the quality or lack of of your site, just saying, sometimes "if you build it, links will come" ...

Actually, I wish you *could* get more information. My main site has been on a PR6 for ages - I'd like to know if I was getting anywhere *near* a PR7.

Worry more about where you are in the SERP than the Google PR and you will be ahead of the game.

Far too much emphasis is being placed on PR and how to improve it.

Here is a link to a site that explains the original Google PR formula.

Obviously their formula changes whenever they see fit

My best performing pages went down from PR5 and PR6 to PR3 in the last update. I didn't change anything and they have also gone from page 1 of the results to page 3 or lower. I am somewhat puzzled by this and not sure what to do to remedy it apart from work on getting some more links to those pages from related sites...
