I have some merchants that I link to through CJ and other AM networks. I also link to some affiliates directly(outside of network merchants).
I am thinking of, instead of going right to the affilliate link right from my main page, sending the click to a .html page that has the following code :
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="4; URL=http://www.affilliate-link.com/">
This will automatically send the customer to the site. I can see the potential benefits of doing things this way of : easier for me to code in an affiliate link (just going to a .html instead of some long affiliate link), and #2 being able to use the afrsc=1 code in an attempt to prevent parasites from hijacking any links.
Are there any downsides to doing things this way? Are there some browsers out there that don't understand this meta-code to do the redirect? If so, is this a big percentage? What are the risks?

My first reaction is you are going to get in trouble with SE's
SE's don't like re-directs.
A more politically-correct way to do the same thing ould be to write a page with a frame to your aff link. That way your header and keyword meta's would be relevant to the page.
