I know many of you here are expert on finding
profitable keywords. I have used the Goodkeyword
tool at goodkeyords.com to find keywords and Site
Build It! to check the competition for each keyword
    phrase I use.

Goodkeywords pulls that data from Overture so it
does not distinguish between singular and plural
and there are possibly other issues I am not aware
of as well, so I have found that in some cases that
even though the keyword phrase has little competition
I am not getting the traffic for a top 10 position on
    Google I had hoped.

My question is Wordtracker more reliable and which do
you use Overture or Wordtracker and are there any others

    Thanks

Since I did not get a reply I will answer
at least part of my own question.

I took a one day subscription to Wordtracker
and did lots of research on keywords and
came up with quite a few difference in the
    keywords I am targeting.

For example I found that Overture had 1000
searches last month for "blue widgets" and
Wordtracker had 100 for "widgets blue"

Also Wordtracker breaks down the searches
in to singlar and the plural of the keywords.

My question is which have you found the most
    accurate?

    Thanks

Anybody care to comment or did I ask
    the wrong question?

No Keyword tools are reliable nhynes57 ... the numbers will be often inflated due to the search by webmasters and automated rank checking tools ....

Among those available wordtracker is ok even though you have to take the results with a grain of salt ... Its better to do KW research in WT , Overture and Google Adword tool and also use some common sense ...

But after you intially create sites for a niche using this tools the best way to continue researching KW's is to monitor your logs ...there is gold in those logs ...watch them and in due time you will see a pattern ...

Just as a general comment on keywords, and not really answering the last question, remember to figure that, if 250,000 people a month search for 'widgets', 2,500 will invariably search for 'widgest' by mistake. Bidding on misspellings may not generate huge amounts of traffic - but it will generate targetted traffic cheaply, as few bid on the various convolutions of common search terms.

Also, including a term like 'buy' or 'retail' can lower the cost of PPC, as fewer affiliates bid on that specific of a phrase, yet it is more focussed on who you want, namely people looking to 'buy'.

I forgot to mention, I did a lot of research on
keywords over the last week and found a few interesting tools in addition to Overture,Wordtracker which might be useful.
