When I check our daily Web logs, is there a "good" number of hits for googlebot? Just looking for some sort of guidance on a possible benchmark.

Its going to depend on how many pages you have in your site. As long as "she" is visiting and your pages link one to another "she" will work "her" way through.

Thanks. We've been pretty steady, but there was a spike yesterday. Odd.

Something to add to this is that you need to add and/or update information on your site frequently. The more changes googlebot sees, the more often it returns. I add or modify content on my main site several times per week and googlebot visits almost every day, even though it is not a large site.

I see many sites with content that has stagnated for six months or more. When this happens, googlebot may only visit monthly. I have seen highly stagnant sites that are only visited every six months.

Siders crave content. Give them what they want and they will make you happy.
