Dont panic yet, this update isn't like the others, its a rolling update. What you're seeing now is the old index with freshbot listings. They still need to add in the past crawl and some more backlinks. Lots more changes before this one is over.

Does any one else think this is a strange way of doing things. This 'update' has been moving from the -sj datacenter to www for a few days and there are bunches of old pages, SEO firms that were banned for spamming years ago and other nonsense in it. Surely, it would have been better to roll out the update when it was finished and just use -sj as the rolling update server.

Still, with the exception of my own site which has taken quite a hammering, everything else looks pretty solid to me.

I think what you see now and what you'll see when everything settles will be very different. I think when it settles it won't be that much different than last month minus some hidden text sites that were reported to Google via the spam reports. The sj which has moved to www2,www3 has looked this way for awhile. People first started reporting on this around the 1st which is only 2 weeks after the last one settled, way too early. I can't see them putting this to the main the way it is now, just opens the door and Google will take a hammering from most webmasters.

Currently, this dance is probably the worst dance for everyone.
I think we should sit back and relax, drink our coffee and wait for it to finish.
If you will have a bad dance, the majority of your competitors will also probably have bad dance. Most of us use similar SEO techniques.
I think we'll get more accurate results tomorrow.

No data for two of my domains, when I type the domains in the search. However, they are still in the search results when I type in certain keyword phrases. I have lost some positions I had previously enjoyed.

Not all the inbound links are coming back for the other site that I have, that when I type the domain in the search data does come back. I am only seeing about a fourth of the sites that are linked to mine(?).

Pretty strange stuff still going on. A site of mine that didn't make it last month and should of, wasn't showing up last night either in 2 & 3. I just looked and it is now showing up. I wonder if they are adding the crawl now? I'm clueless but at least I am a little more optimistic than I was last night although I am still taking a beating so far.

Just did a search for May 9, 2003

    main google 8,500,000
    www2 12,600,000
    www-sj 12,600,000
    www-fi 14,200,000

Fi showing newer data, so i think they still have to add new stuff. When its all done i think this update will be pretty much like all the rest.

    No problem ,

While you are at it, get rid of the other parasite ridden computer merchants you have on your computer page , you are diluting the clicks, confusing your shoppers and risking your clicks getting diverted anyway to the dark side.....

This applies to all you other affiliate reading this now!

Are you wasting your computer traffic/clicks?

C'mon, get real..decide what side of the fence you are on...support the merchants that are supporting you !!

I hear many of you slamming parasites, yet i visit your sites and you are feeding the ones that are stealing from you !!

    Hello, anybody home ?????

    Andy:
Good call. Is there a simple way to identify merchants involved with the parasites or is it a matter of trolling these boards and picking them out?

We do a minimal amount of revenue from affiliate marketing, but I'd hate to see our dribs and drabs siphoned off. More importantly, it's the principle of the issue.

Karl, I hate to hijack this thread, this is an SEM thread, however the merchants who are in bed with the paras are displyed all over this board. You can also go to Ebates and look at their laundry list !! Yikes

    Yikes is right!
I just looked at the list and, well, words fail me. Not a good sign for a guy who's made his living as a writer for many years.
