Is it true that a listing from dmoz gets you a pr of at least 4 in google?? I was listed within 2 days of submission. I can't find where I read it before in this forum. Does anybody know???

    thanks!

I know of one example where a site listed in dmoz has a PR of 2.

I believe how much benefit you get from a dmoz listing would depend on the PR of the dmoz page, and how many links are on the dmoz page.

My understanding is that Google treats a dmoz link like any other. So the PR transfer depends, like Jungleland said, on the PR of the page you're listed on and the number of other links on that page.

Plus, of course, you get listed in the Google directory, once that updates with the new dmoz listings.

As a rule of thumb, you'll get the PR of the DMOZ page less one or two ranks, so if the DMOZ page has a PR5, you'll likely get a PR3 or PR4, depending on the number of outbound links.

There's a catch though.. Google only looks at the first 100 links and some ODP categories are larger than that.

There have been some recent problems though, with the current faulty Google index and the fact that the dmoz.org servers have been very slow and haven't been spiderable.

I'd expect to see a PR5 from that, especially when combined with the Google directory when it's updated. I guess it might be three weeks or so before you'll be able to tell.

I'm pretty sure that the PR displayed on the Toolbar is *currently* only accurately displayed for sites that have been "around" for more than a couple of months.
