    Email from OVER

We are pleased to inform you that, earlier today, Yahoo!, Inc., a leading global Internet company, announced plans to acquire Overture.

    Business Wire:
Under the terms of the agreement, each outstanding common share of Overture will receive 0.6108 shares of Yahoo! common stock and $4.75 in cash, reflecting an aggregate purchase price of approximately $1.63 billion, or $1.52 billion net of Overture's March 31, 2003 cash balance, less the amounts earmarked for their two recently closed transactions. jeeeze, what a move! Don't blink, you might miss something! I stopped using Overture because of their relationship with one particular company. I wonder if Yahoo would ever consider reviewing that relationship.

Yahoo had better get rid of Gator, etc. I hate f'ing Overture. They wasted A LOT of my money before I realized that conversions went to shit.

Haw haw, some of us had figured that Yahoo was up to that, when Yahoo imposed their "content standards" on Over and caused Over to reject tons of listings and drive a lot of their bidding customers away!

Last month I made $6,125.89 NET from one keyword and the misspell at Overture.

    It works for me!

Adam- Yeah, I am losing some money by not using Overture, but it was the principle for me. No doubt, Overture retains some value and converts to a degree, I just don't want my company popping up over my competitor, especially without my permission. Overture felt it was okay to just go ahead and associate my company's reputation with a company of Gator's ilk, wihtout so much as a by-your-leave. Well, I left.

That means that Idealab! have sold it to another exclamation mark ridden outfit. I wonder if they're going to dispose of CJ next?

I just noticed that Idealab owns Cooking.com which uses Befree for their affiliate program management... seems like Idealab is looking to get into bed with all the big names..

Buying Overture they also now have AllTheWeb which is a much better than Ink.

Yahoo(AllTheWeb) vs. Google vs. MSN(once they get their search up/MSNBOT) would be quite a battle.

Good point, TrustNo1, ATW's results are pretty good, so I guess we'll all have to learn about optimising for ATW pretty soon.

They also picked up AltaVista too with that acquistition, didn't they?

Yep, they got Altavista too. Hopefully they use AllTheWeb. I always thought AllTheWeb was a close second to Google as far as relevant results. Also AllTheWeb usually gets all my pages before Google does. I think Yahoo would stand a chance if they used them instead of Ink.
