In the past 2 days, my sites have been lost. Google is not showing them in search results. The page rank is ok, they still show up when I search for the site. It is not just one or two keywords or pages, but all of them not showing in searches.

They are not spammy, so I am uncertain what has happened.

Any thoughts on what may be going on?

Interesting. Your page rank seems solid. Hopefully some of the Google experts will chime in on this one.

Ok, tried the same search again and my site shows up.

So, a keyword search changed results in the past few hours. I will be checking the others to see if they show up also.

If anyone has more insight, or thoughts, please post them up.

I've been getting the same thing for weeks with one site, shows #2 for a keyword, then it's nowhere to be found, then it's back... google is no fun any more

Yeah, I've got that happening with a site as well. My advice: it isn't supposed to happen, so it's Google's problem and there's nothing you can do about it. Forget about it and eventually they will sort it out.

What about a site that was put up end of March google had the index page and 47 other pages, and in april until now it only has the index page and white bar? Keep hoping?

Cazzie, get more links into the site and see if Google picks it up more quickly. Otherwise, yeah, just don't worry about it. Build a new site, have a vacation, but don't fret over things you can't really control. This is all beginning to remind me of the dog-days of AltaVista before Google became a serious player. Ho hum.

A disaster for me. Seems eBay, Amazon, PDF and DOC files are now
    dominating the top SERP positions.
All in all, the signs are that Google is starting to get itself into a hole again. I hope I'm wrong about that, but there has certainly been a clear and significant deterioration in many areas during the last couple of days.
It was almost fixed.... why break it again?

I'm far from a search engine specialist, but, whatever has been happening with Google for the past few months, it's pretty obvious that there are massive inconcistencies between their different servers, so searches made a few seconds apart can show vastly different results

Oh, it's all good fun, really. Just makes life a little more interesting. It may all change by, I dunno, two weeks on Saturday and a new power may emerge to take on the Big G ! Then again, it may not.

One of my sites slipped from page 1 position 5 for a keyword to page 5 position 8 and stayed like that for almost a whole month - then three weeks ago it went back to the initial spot....

Amazon is using google adsense. That probably gives them an even bigger boost.

I know when I started using adsense, Submitnet reported that my rank went up.

Adam, by the stupidity of the site you linked to, I am guessing you are making the point you are pro - google?

Google helps its friends? Yeah, I talk to google everynight before I go to bed, then google comes in and kisses me goodnight and sometimes it reads me a story before I drift off to sleep, that is why i am ranked #1 in the words I want.

The biggest flaw in the Internet is not that every yokel can put up a site with their crazy theories, it is that the rest of the Internet believes them.

I have to agree with that. I was doing some searching today trying to find sites to link to. I was finding that affiliates sites were buried and those that were listed had no PR at all. I hope its not googles intention of burying affiliate sites.

I just had a site get the dreaded PR0 - completely legit site, no spam, no redirects, no doorways - blackhistorystamps.com and it's getting 7 to 8GB of traffic a day through a CPA affiliation. Sometimes Google just plain doesn't play fair. You know as well as I do once you get PRO (right or wrongly) the odds of beating it are NILL. The only way I can save this 900lb gorrilla of a website is to re-create it under a new domain.

Actually our news site got a PR0 and then 3 months later bounced back to a PR6. Yes, google has issues or problems, but the web site linked to claims it was based on if you personally new google or not.

I think it is more of an issue that google indexes millions of sites automatically. The computer is going to make some errors sometimes.

Also want to get the blackhistorystamps.com back in google? Signup for adsense and run the banners for a brief period. I will bet you $10, if you get in adsense, you will get back into google. They say the two are not connected, but I have seen otherwise.

It's a brand new website (2 weeks old) so it gotted banned on it's first crawl for some reason that is beyond my reasoning - Very frustrating considering the amount of traffic the new affiliations have brought in, but Adsense is certainly worth a try.

    Thanks - Dale

    Dale,
I don't think PR0 with a white bar is unusual for a new site, and it doesn't mean the site is banned - PR0 with a grey bar is something to worry about.
    Just give it a while...

Gatekeeper don't worry about the PR0, the toolbar has been whacky for a few months now. One of my new sites has been PR0 for 3-4 months now and is in the index getting nice traffic and all my sites are clean. Heres something else i found while looking around. Search for something in Google and just go down the list looking at the sites. What you will find are PR0 sites and gray bar sites in the index. Instead of looking at the toolbar, the #1 thing you should look for is if the site is in the index, if it is then its not penalized.

Gatekeeper, as Radegast says - that site isn't banned. It just isn't showing any PageRank yet. The goalposts have shifted and both new sites and new pages will show PR0 until Google next updates backlinks and PageRank. It is doing that at the moment but I wouldn't expect blackhistorystamps.com to show any PR until next time around. Whenever that is.

Chez Noir - There is no correlation between paying for AdSense and your ranking in the regular SERPs. Unless you can give me categoric proof to the contrary ?

It went from Not Ranked to 0 - that's what worries me since I fully expected at least a 5 - but you are right, time will tell and I am completely paranoid when it comes to watching rankings. But me thinks I'll put the backup plan in motion just in case .... BTW do you think it would help to see the difference between white and gray if I were to quit using this 10 inch monochrome monitor? I really hate to throw anything away before I've gotten all that I can out of it.
