I am still very puzzled and excited.
Yesterday aolsearch.aol.com sent over 4,300 uniques to my beauty tips website effectively increasing the traffic by almost 50%
Today it is back to the regular 70-80/day.

I tried to find out the search term, but everything looked normal. My tracker only tells me the referring domain, not the individual page.
I verified the increase in page views so it is not my tracker acting up.

I have no idea what happened, but I wish it would happen more often :-)

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Because of AOL's bizarre proxy cacheing thingy, those 4,300 uniques could actually be just one person, I'm afraid. If you are using AOL, your IP can change every page you visit, which means that it will appear in many tracking packages as a second, third and fourth unique visitor, etc. It's just one of the many reasons I hate AOL.

    Thanks, markymark.
I still suspect that they were real visitors because the page views also increased by about 30,000.
I never liked AOL, except for this one day
