Is an underscore or a dash better for seperating words?

I have heard different theories on both, but I think it was stated a dash can be better for Google.

    I_used_to_underscore but switched-to-dashing.

Don't see any difference tho, but it saves me a extra keystroke

The underscore looks better in SERP I think, less "spammy".

But it beats a real j.o.b.

    It does look less spammy.

I will change my smaller sites to see what it can do.
