Seems like forever, but googlebot finally came to my site. Twice on Monday.

Don't know whether to be anxious or nervous.

    What happens now?

Sit tight for a while and see what happens. Continue getting links to your site and building more pages. Google can't stand to not have information so getting in is not a big deal it's just a matter of time and a few links.

Yeah we all know the anxiety associated with this. Just sit tight. If you're lucky your pages may be listed within 4 to 5 days or so.

How and where do you check to see if Google visited?

    Frank,

Keep in mind that Google is temperamental at times. Your site might come and go, bounce up and down the results, etc., for a few weeks. Don't let this behavior bother you.

It's important to remember that as long as you aren't doing anything sneaky to improve your rankings, you will most likely always be listed in Google from this point forward.

Build good pages that are helpful to others, and Google will reward you.

Congrats on being found, and best of luck getting a top listing!

    Andy

    Mailman,

Look in your server traffic logs (Webalizer, Analog, etc). You will find most of the SEs listed together, and Google identifies itself as "Googlebot".

    Thanks Andy.

No nothing sneaky going on. If I have learned anything here at ABW, it is not try anything underhanded. (I have learned MANY things here).

btw, I really like your 'From:' line. You must be from arount "T" town.

Mailman--if you don't have a specific program to view your traffic logs, try going to your server admin pages. Look at the files structure on your server.

Generally (tho not always) your logs are in a root folder named httpd. Look for a file named access_log or some such. Select the file and elect to view or download it.

If you download it, use a text editor to read it. If you have wordpad or something like it, you can read about everything and everyone who as accessed your site.

Just checked mine again. Seems like an extraordinarily large number of dns lookups. And a couple of the sneakybots tried with no luck.
