Depending on your region, seems LookSmart has begun to disappear from MSN search results. They're gone for the keywords i'm checking For those that don't know, those would be the web directory results, some will see a nice spice in MSN traffic.

    From the Looksmart submit page:
    http://listings.looksmart.com/?synd=...han=zddresults

"Notice: Starting in mid-January, 2004, MSN will no longer display search results from the Web Directory."

    It's happening

Have they now moved Overture results into the top spots formerly taken by the directory results? I recall they had Overture off to the side before like Adwords on Google but now the Overture results take up the top 3 spots.

    Depends on your search terms.

For some i see Featured Sites then 3 Sponsored sites and more Sponsored sites to the right like Adwords.

Some just 3 sponsored sites and sponsored sites to the right

Some searches i just see 1 Sponsored site then regular listings.

But it was those directory listings that buried you.

Probably the best news I've heard in a long time. MSN gets a lot of search traffic and I have some decent Inktomi rankings. F google! (sorry I'm still pissed about the FL update)

That's harsh. Instead of throwing words like that around, perhaps you could make changes and adapt. You were not the only one hit by Florida update.

Naw... it's not harse. I'm hoping Inktomi can compete with google on yahoo and msn. I want to see another SE in the mix. Google has been on top for too long. Also, I find myself using AltaVista more and more now when I'm searching for something. I can't find a thing on google after the FL update.

Anyway... Right now I'm back to seeing looksmart at MSN. Last night I just saw sponsored listings and Inktomi.

I'm actually sad to see Looksmart go.

For us, Inktomi has been absolutely worthless at indexing, so now it looks like we'll have to buy paid inclusion... Looksmart shot two birds with one stone, for the same price.

Looksmart web directory now missing when searching from the UK. My site has just moved up from position 41 to 8. That will do nicely thank you!

How long is MSN going to rely on Ink for results? How does the MSNbot figure into all of this?
