Ive noticed many affiliate sites have lost rank in the top 10, while the stores that actually sell the products have moved up in rank. This applies all across the board from rogaine to designer shoes.

The affilite sites that seem to be doing good are the ones that aren't spamming, have good text content, clean title tags and aren't linking out to other sites at all except 5-15 product links for the store they are linking to.

These are just some observations I've seen in the last week or so. I like to keep in mind that the best search engine would prolly change the way it scores a page and then change its listings every month right? The websites with the best content would always rise to the top. One thing to remember is until the Google stops using that pagerank meter on the toolbar: - Rest asured Google is going to keep using PR to help score a page. Theme based linking is huge right now, but you have to have the content and relevant inward and outbound links to back it up. If you dont have relevant links pointing to your site you can pretty much forget being listed in the top 10 for any hot key term.

I think people are confusing PR with ranking. Sure, PR or TPR is an interestoing thing to know. But no it doesn't give you an advantage for ranking unless your keywords are in the anchor text. Anchor text seems to be the biggest factor this update. Note this includes anchor text on your site, tho anchor text linking to your site is more effective. Also note that it needs to be related to the page it is linked to

I'm still seeing shifts in the results, so I don't think they've "settled" down quite yet.

Having said that, these days, if you've really been negatively affected, I would advise you not to panic for at least 4-6 weeks, as I'm sure another "tweak" is in the works.
