Search results in both SE are very different now. Some of my sites are no longer in SE results in Yahoo. Another thing came up concerning Google. They are accused to filter the results, for whatever reason it is. When I looked into my stats I found a lot of clickthroughs which did not appear in my " Euorpean" Google.

Yahoo! has dropped Google for its own secret sauce (Inktomi + Overture).

Google has multiple datacenters that update one at a time so it is possible to see different results from different geo locations, until the update is complete.

I think I read it somewhere this week that Yahoo isn't going with anyone. They're creating their own engine.

I check my logs regularly and often will take the referrer and put it into the browser just to see what the visitor saw before they clicked on my link.

I did it with a newly added site just a few minutes ago. It's a site that's listed in Google definitely, but the search came from Yahoo.

When I put it in, Yahoo returned ZERO results for my search. I refreshed and there I was along with a bunch of other sites. I thought that was pretty interesting.

I'm seeing great results from yahoo, msn and google and even altavista !

freedom, it's not freedom till you build a business model where you can leave and the commissions will still be there. :0).

Overture (owned by Yahoo) has a deal with Gator/Claria.

Yahoo.com is now using Inktomi (owned by Yahoo) for the bulk of the results. Regional Yahoo!s may still be running with Google (as in the UK).

It's never a good idea to ban a spider that will bring you visitors for free.

They may be using the Ink database, but I think they are applying their own filters to it. Results of pure Inktomi were not the same as Yahoo results when I last checked (though similar).

That's why I stopped advertising with Overture a year or so ago. Kinda hurt, because I liked the positioning I was in, but they were pricey anyway, and who wants to support someone who is working with the company 'formerly known as gator'??
