Is this inclusion thing on yet ?

    I haven't found a way to submit yet .
I knew my patience would pay off in waiting to see what Yahoo REALLY does before jumping the gun and paying for each page to be included in Inktomi , especially since we don't really know what MSN's plans for the near future are , and they could abandon Ink for their own database .

I'm waiting on pins and needles here . Where do I submit ? How much is it ?

Your INK paid submissions are showing in Yahoo now until 4/15, then at that date you have to pay to keep those in Yahoo. INK paid submissions will continue to show in MSN.

I'm waiting myself to find out how much this will cost, hopefully Tim will let us know in that thread i posted.

    He did say:
"We will also be launching free URL submission during the week of 3/1. "

So i'm going to submit any pages that aren't already in there and that will give a month and a half to see if they do get in. If not, i'll spend a little money

Sure looks like another ripoff to me... boost the traffic to Inktomi, webmasters respond by buying more PFI, and then Yahoo drops the PFI component, leaving webmasters to pay a second time.

Kinda pissed off because I've spent $1000 this month on Inktomi listings. Of course when MSN drop Inktomi, those listings will be worthless.

Looks like another Yahoo ripoff to me.. remember when they persuaded webmasters to fork out $299 for a directory listing and then promptly dropped them from the results?

Would it be too much effort Merchant-Consultant_Team to elaborate on any subject you have direct knowledge about which interests the group. What was the outcome of a long talk with Tim? Who the heck is Tim? What advice to you have to ABWers about how to leverage this change over period at Yahoo to save them wasting listing money?

Clicking on "view your latest posts" on your member name reveals nothing about your viewpoints. Just oneline chatroom or Aim type postings. As a co-founder of TT in charge of marketing, your a complete mystery man of little words to those at ABW. I'm seeking any viewable impact statements on your views on the direction of affiliate marketing or campaigns against it's abusers. Take the tie off, grab a beer and converse with us.

    Hello Mike

Tim Mayor is the Director of Project Management for Search Platform and
    Technology at Yahoo!

I first met him at the BarConference in Irvine California a couple of years
ago. I introduced him to FAST at that time.

We had a PRIVATE conversion in Orlando about Yahoo! PI
I'm sorry that I can't post that conversation BUT he did make public
    statement at WmW, I understand.

    MY BIO
Mike was born in California, received a degree in Finance and Economics from
the University of Notre Dame and then sold for Memorex.
He then joined Coldwell Banker Commercial (now CB Richard Ellis) and
specialized in office buildings in Orange County, CA

He moved on to real estate development where he was responsible for the
concept plan and government approvals of Oxnard Town Centre, a 4.2 million
square foot mixed use Commercial Development at the intersection of Hwy 1
and Hwy 101 in Ventura County, California.

During the 80's he moved his family to Fiji and then on to Hawaii where he
sold office buildings to the Japanese. When the Nikkei Stock Index crashed,
he returned to the mainland and consulted on a number of mixed use projects
    in the Western states.

Currently Mike develops and owns web properties. He is an e-commerce
consultant focusing on internet structure and strategy as well as search
    engine optimization and affiliate marketing.

Mike has been a member of webmaster communities since 1997.
He was a moderator at SEF and the SEF "stepmother" as well.
He spent time as Admin at SED, a now closed SEO board, and a moderator at
WmW. Mike, with the help of 2 web friends conceived and implemented the
    original Pub Conference.

Mike has been in the background at ABW since 11/22/2001

After reading the latest post at ineedhits when I try to login to their inktomi reports, I can't help shake the feeling that I need to:

    A) Buy some Yahoo stock.
    B) Pay down my credit card before 4/15.

I think they are going to tag a LOT of people for extra money.

Looks like a useful type with a bio like that. Actually I have known him since 1997 where I was and in fact am still a mod at SEF.

Ill vouch for the fact that he has been around the block.

Great addition to TT as he could guide affiliates on abandoning SE spam and blind cookie setting routines. These have become so prevalent in the major networks where AM's are asleep at the wheel.. ABW has pushed merchants to change their TOS's to exclude this practice as the poorman's BHO trick.

Haiko and crew sure have a head start on what IS affiliate and merchant BEST PRACTICES.

Yup, no new Ink submissions by the looks of things now.

The Yahoo/Looksmart analogy is a good one. This is one the of the things that killed Looksmart. Google must be breathing a huge sigh of relief, because Yahoo have managed to come up with a system that is both unattractive to webmasters AND looks like it will produce crappy results at the same time.

There are so many things Yahoo could have done with the technology at its disposal.. Alltheweb is every bit as good as Google in terms of SERPs quality, AltaVista has great power tools, Inktomi is a simple and popular model, Overture is straightforward to use per click - and somehow Yahoo manage to cock it all up and combine the worst of all worlds.

Time to sell that Yahoo! stock. And I guess the Google IPO is going to be back on if that's all Yahoo can come up with..

Yeah, I spoke too soon about buying some stock. How can you have soooo many great assets and NOT end up dominating a market? Someone at Google needs to send a Yahoo eGreeting Card thank you to the powers that be at Yahoo.

Wait a second... Correct me if I have this wrong .

How this is supposed to work is that after you pay for each page to be included , the only control you have over the keywords that those pages will be returned for in the search results depend on your keyword targeting and optimization skills. Fair enough.

HOWEVER , if Yahoo! returns your page for obscure keyword combinations that have nothing to do with the target content of the page , outside of these words being part of descriptive text and so on, you will still have to pay the hefty sum of 15 cents per click for lot's of crappy un-targeted traffic .

Not Fair , Absolute BS, there is NO WAY I'm paying 15 cents a click for this kind of Sh*t traffic

same sort of thread here too: Yahoo Site Match

Do the maths, for example...50 clicks a day = $7.50, so in a year thats $2737 you owe Yahoo, for what you could get with Inktomi for about 1% of that figure.

All google needs to do is to sit tight...and watch Yahoo make a complete pigs ear of its market position.. my money is on google to win this round of the SE battles.
