I was cruising the google forums and came across several statments about the Webrescuer Spider visiting your site and then your Google stats or even your entire site disappears. Anyone else experiencing the problem showing this spider in their logs starting March 14 - 16?

Yeah, I had Webrescuer creeping around. I couldn't find very much information on it. I had to ban it because it kept hitting the index page. However, I can't believe there's any link between Webrescuer and Google stats, is there?

I don't see how it could. But some of the people on the forum think so. I just did a link check for my domain and two weeks ago I had 453 return links. Now I have about 8. Yet those links are still inplace on the sites that are not showing. I believe this is the true cause of the problem.

If it's any comfort, their own website has a PR 0 and no backlinks.

Haven't seen the thread but can't imagine how their spider could possibly affect Google rankings. Anything other than anecdotal evidence offered?
