Can anyone tell me if changing hosts can cause a site not to be indexed or crawled by the search engines? Perhaps because a change of IP address or something like that has taken place? One of my sites gets fairly good traffic but I need to get a better hosting deal but have put it off until now for fear of the change screwing things up.

    Your advice would be appreciated.

my main site has been on 3 different hosts since its inception. I think once DNS gets updated and propogated there shouldn't be an issue. Google, Yahoo, and other SEs should know you as www.yourdomain.com not xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

    i think

I was worried about this too, but when I changed, my traffic almost immediately doubled and my sales have been better. Maybe it was coincedence, but moving helped, not hurt.

I've noticed that some hosts get crawled more often than others, but as far as you getting crawled, once you are indexed, there's no problem whatsoever as far as continuing to get a crawl.
