Can anyone tell me of a way to do a redirect without getting penalized by the search engines. I have read that the search engines dont read flash files. Would embedding a small flash file on a page with a redirect work without getting my site in trouble? Do they read javascripts?

The most spider-safe way of doing a redirect, that I know of, is a 301 Redirect which is done on the server.

    It is a 'perminant' redirect.

SE Spiders don't read javascript or flash.

Put a plain skip intro link on the front page. The spider can follow that. Plus it gives your audience a chance to save time by avoiding the flash page.
