Has anyone heard any new news on when it will be live? My guess is that maybe they are waiting until after the Google IPO so that they dont get forgotten about during the media frenzy. Anyone know anything about this?

Microsoft won't take a backseat to anyone. My guess is they are perfecting it and I wouldn't be suprised if they intend to release it during the google ipo just to blunder it up.

Well, they've said it will take up to a year to complete, but who knows. They definitely need a bigger index though and to sort out clustering of results at the very minimum.

Is there a new bot out specifically for the new MSN search engine?

Andy I don't know if there is a new bot, but a MSNbot visits me every day and I have no listings on MSN search. So I thinks it must be for the new one.

In response to Spiderman, and for those who have not yet seen it:
    http://techpreview.search.msn.com/

It's "live" but not "released". Of course nobody knows when it will be released, and it needs a lot of work, but MSN isn't playing; they're certainly not going to wait too long to release the product.

I received an email from MSN in my Hotmail account today "introducing" their new search.

    I think it's live...

I think they'll be as successful against Yahoo and Google as much as they were successful against Tivo.

And let's not forget the desktop search app they have planned to bundle with the next OS. They should be getting a bigger piece of the search traffic pie.

True, not if they suck tho. People have shown they'll go out of their way to get some decent search: Google. Google also has a deskbar in anticipation of the move. They'll get their search in front of more people but it still has to be somewhat decent. Time will tell on that, they still have a long way to go. Doubt it gets released this year.

I've started receiving traffic from them, not much as yet but it's steady on some keywords.

Didn't think they were going to start up till later in the year....

mousejockey are you talking about getting traffic from MSN now, which is still using INK. The MSNbot that's going around is for their own search when they drop INK.

http://techpreview.search.msn.com/ Thats where all the pages MSNbot is gobbling up is going.

Yeah, that's just the regular MSN that's still using INK. It'll be awhile i think before they switch to their own:

    Glad your clean MJ.....

These are the scum or the payees of the scum, that were sending emails out insinuating that you needed to install the ieplugin to cover up some Explorer loophole, it was worded as if it was all legit and it came from Microsoft.

The perps behind ieplugin are drug smugglers and the closest thing to cancer treatemnts is sedating those undergoing Chemo with Belize grown pot.

I think what the BHOs are doing is horrible in the first place, but to imply money will go to fight cancer is outrageous! They should be shut down and forced to do community service work until a cure is found for pulling this stunt!!
