I have been trying to get a new site crawled by Google for about 3 months.

Google had crawled and indexed about 90 pages.

Then I decided to try Adwords.

On the day I subscribed Google dropped 40 pages.

A few days after that they dropped more.

Today, a week later, I'm down to 22 pages.

Am I being paranoid or are they guaranteeing that they get their cash?

What Heyder said. Adwords has nothing to do with the day to day crawling and indexing and has no affect on where you are eventually ranked.

AdWords is a huge source of revenue for Google. I don't think they'd discourage customers from using it in such a transparent way.

Two words and gone, and not even useful words at that. Very helpful. Well done.

Microdot, again, Adwords has nothing to do with crawling/indexing/ranking. I don't know what's happening with your site but it is not because of Adwords.

    Guys,

I have heard of a similar thing happening twice before. Maybe just a coincidence but it's still possible right?

Some similar happened to me few months before - I was advertising one new site (the first and only) via AdWords and I couldn't get it off PR0 for months, even with at least 20 PR5+ pages linking to it.

After a few months, a lot of b*tching and a few e-mails to Google the site is doing great now.

I am NOT saying AdWords affected my rankings, I am not sure what did. But I know my first thought was AdWords at that time, as this was the only site I had problems with and the only I was using AdWords for...

    Hope you straighten that out.

Some strange stuff happened around the time of Florida...

I used to get position 4 for one of my sites for my principal keyword and a little lower with the same keyword with the "ing" ending.

Then I dropped completely, and I mean completely, out of the rankings for my main keyword while the other one stayed the same.

Now I'm back up there - position 9, which is good.

Funny thing is, another of my sites that isn't optimized for this keyword - at least not intentionally - is there at No. 1!
