I also noticed that a number of my sites where Google had dropped most pages from its index now have many pages back in their index, starting just this morning. I hope it continues!

The fact that it says "Dec 31, 1969" as your cache date shouldn't worry you. This is apparently the default date Google chose for cache dates. I'm guessing that Google couldn't ascertain the date on which your page was cached so you got stuck with the default date.

That is day -1 of unixtimestamp. The UNIX timestamp measures time in seconds from midnight on January 1st, 1970.

So that is a normal cheat to say always zero.

I've noticed something a little strange about Google lately. When I search for something I get the normal results but then the page automatically refreshes and adds 2 or 3 listings to the top. It's almost as if Google wants to give me certain results, but it decides to give me slightly different results a split second later. Anybody else seeing this?

Thanks Trust, Been quite busy with quite a bit of stuff. Hey Scott I'm seeing it too: It's almost as if Google wants to give me certain results, but it decides to give me slightly different results a split second later. Anybody else seeing this? Yep I do too.

When I do a search on google for site: mydomain, the results are for sites that in some way linked to me. Web site, directories, FFA, and some search engines. This includes my own pages that link back to index page. Definitely not an indication of how many of my pages that google has indexed.

Now this is really wierd - my pages in the Google index shows a total double what my page count actually is - we are talking BIG numbers here - something very strange is going on.

I wonder if, with the release of MSN's search engine today, Google's adding pages to pump up its count of indexed pages to look more impressive compared to MSN?

I'm happy it's happening, no matter what the reason is!

"Microsoft said the MSN Search preview taps into an index of more than 5 billion documents, topping the 4.2 billion that have been included in the Google search. Last evening, as word of Microsoft's plans for the preview circulated through the technology industry, Google announced that it had finished a lengthy process of boosting its searchable index to more than 8 billion Web pages."

Good....room for my slim 3000 page site then !!

Seeing as you 30,000 page webmasters have filled up my slot...lol

I'm noticing a lot of new pages being added to google to...not in the 100's but at least 40 every few days..it's a start at least.
