I sure am happy to announce this news as a flash developer, it has been a heated debate in the SEO world whether or not to use flash and accept this new interactive technology.

In my opinion Flash is the future of the web, more like interactive tv, full live video, interactive database capabilities, more freedom with design, not worrying what browser the user has, since flash displays the same in all browsers, and so many more reasons, but I think the one main drawback has always been SEO and Flash.

That is no longer the case! Google can now index Flash!

It is only a matter of time before all search engines will follow and also utilize this new search technology, and here's why:

The Flash Search SWF SDK Source is available freely as an open source format, so everyone can benefit from this new Flash search technology.

I have posted two great articles with more information here:

Hope you find this useful! Any thoughts on this topic?

    Cheers!

Google has been indexing Flash files for at least year. Google has been reading inside Flash movies for a few months at least.

Just curious. How do you develop flash sites for phone modem users? It seems that you would have to have an alternative non-flash version. As a former phone-modem user, I found flash sites a real nuisance unless the flash was used in extreme moderation or an option was given.

Flash may become used more in the future but its not time for it yet people tend to use Flash for the sake of it and too few provide non flash modes, flash also is'nt really sutible for creating most types of sites its purpose should be to offer extra flash features presentations etc as part of html or java sites

Flash doesn't increase my affiliate bottom line and takes forever to create sites with.

    God no.

95% of flash sites are terrible user-unfriendly abortions created by over-paid ad industry graphic designer wankers.

Google indexing them will just encourage them.
