Ok, I thought I would post this for all us computer dolts that like Gator because it fills out forms and passwords but want to use something else instead.

I am on AOL - ok no flames

I did go to find the advanced options for IE to fill out the forms, but there was not that option available. And I am not sure if it would work with AOL.

Soooo, if someone who is more knowledgeable than me could explain how to get rid of Gator, what we can use instead, where to download another program to do the same, etc...

I figured this thread this would be an easy place for people to get answers.

I am trying, just need a little help!

    Vicki,

The advanced options of IE are only available if your running IE, not an AOL browser, there is a differance.

From the soon to be published GATORisaCROCK.com site:

Go to http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/pagedata .html#show_passwords to retrieve your passwords etc, then go to http://webpdp.gator.com/gain/about-gain-02.html or http://www.gatoradvertisinginformati...bout-gain.html and follow the onscreen instructions for removal.

    Some replacements for Gator include:

    Drop-it32 ( http://download.com.com/3000-2380-8828540.html?tag=lst-4 -7 )

    Keywallet ( http://download.com.com/3000-2380-6269849.html?tag=lst- 4-12 )

    Roboform (http://www.roboform.com/) [edited]

[added other link to detect Gator and removed ownership info of roboform]

    SSanf,

    I shouldn't have said that.

I do have MANY but I'll refrain.

I don't see any reason IE's form completion wouldn't work under an AOL connection - but you have to be using IE, not AOL's browser. My second computer has a Walmart connection (cheap aol basically) and I just ignore that browser and run IE.

Being the ultimate quick fix geek on this board I'd recommend installing adaware ..use top of page link to rid yourself from Gator and his ugly sewer friends. Then install the roboform program. Works wonders and is super quick. It also has an import utility add-in for transferring all your Gator data.

An excellent form-filler alternative (no scumware, no spyware) is Roboform. Free version and a paid version.

And auto-script to import info from Gator.
