For legal reason we need all our affilate to make sure that they make it very clear they are an affilate of WebVitamins. It is important if this isn''t clear on your site that you make sure this is corrected or we will terminate our affiliation.

Anyone found using a competitors trademark will be terminated and reported. This will likely result in a lawsuit. So please make sure you aren''t using trademarks illegally.

    Sincerely,

    John Montague

What is this all about? I am not sure I understand what circumstances they think a lawuit is justified.

It looks like they may have had an "incident" which caused them great loss.

I don't even know what that means. Does that mean you can't list
the product company on your page ie doctor's choice for women
or twin labs vitamins? It seems like there will be a banner so
it will say vitamin-etc on page anyway...

Messages like that from merchants is almost always an indication that they themselves are in trouble (one form or another).

Any message that complains about use of a merchant's name, warns affiliates about outbidding them for paid SE placement, informs of a drastically lowered commission rate and/or cookie duration are usually always an indication that your sales for them will soon take a nose dive, or reversals are coming your way.

Good merchants don't dump their problems in the laps of all their affiliates. It just gives every experienced affiliate the notion that it's time to take down their links.

    WTF?

    Fsck You.

Perhaps one of their affiliates was bidding on/optimising for/whatever one of their competitor's TM's and they (WV) got sued for it? That email is lame and I don't like the wording or tone.

I got a termination this a.m. - reason as inactive - but I do sell for them, daily and I do have my page plastered with "affiliated" with and I don't advertise trademarks, but I do use product links. What is up with these "bobo's"

WebVitamins is removing less active affiliates

Time to pull them. I wonder what less active is? I had 22 sales for them in Feb. I even recommended them in the past because they converted great. I bet they close down their affiliate program soon. No problem, there are plenty of other good vitamin merchants out there.

Very bad signal. Time to remove all our links or switch them to a more affiliate friendly merchant. You're never safe in that business. I never had any direct contact with their AM, is it this John Montague? Somebody starting an email with "To remain an affiliate" without saying what's going on really is not worth our time. I don't think they will stay long at CJ.

Yeah, I got dropped also. I sent them a nice email telling it was their loss.

I think this one is indeed ready to die or close their program.

They didn't send me The Email...but that's because they haven't approved my application that I put in back in JANUARY!

The lack of approving (or denying) my application, along with the email reported in this thread, says that they don't want affiliates--or at least not too many affiliates. Oh well, there's other places!

Guess who just sent me an approval notice for the application I made last January!

Not sure. I'm still looking up the complaints on 'em here, plus their 7-day EPC has dropped substantially on Nov. 28th so that needs investigation. Not to mention that they waited 11 months to say Yes!

On the other hand, they have a feed and there's people who want that stuff, and I see that VitaminLab's EPC sucks worse.

I won't categorically say I won't run 'em yet, but they're not a source of motivation put it like that. And I'm really leery about that drop in the 7-day EPC! That's waving a huge red flag that all is not right in WV Trackingsville...

EYI and eVitamins are great and both obviously here.

Affs do use competitor TMs in many forms and it is the responsility of the AM to rectify it, and fast.

I forgot about that...I'll check 'em out. When WV didn't respond I had lost interest in the category, so both programs were flying under my radar.

I figured that was legit when I reread this thread. But I AM concerned about WebVitamins' 11-month approval delay, and whatever's going on with their EPC drop. And I kind of remember some other type of unflattering remarks being aimed in their direction although I forgot the specifics. I got sidetracked before I could run a search on it, though.

I know one thing, now that you reminded me about the ones here--even if I do decide to run WV, WV's chance at getting a category monopoly on my sites just dropped to nil.

Here's a reminder - they dumped a large majority of affiliates last year - even the ones that were making them sales were told they were dropped do to inactive accounts??? I never looked back.....

Could you refresh my memory on that? I decided to search for old posts about WebVitamins today and I couldn't find anything except this thread and a few foreboding mentions by other posters of "Remember WebVitamins..."

I finally did go ahead and run it, but not on a high-traffic site.

    *checks pages*

You're right--It looks like they ran their descriptions through the WebMerge! "Uncover the benefits of (whatever product)."

Not the worst spin, though... it'll probably sell anyway.

    *checks some more*

What I CAN complain about, though, is that no IMAGES seem to be showing! (Sarcasm) Hundreds of pages of little red X's, how swell...(/sarcasm)

I am looking for the thread, too - expired is showing as March 15 2003 in the CJ system.

Note: I can't see any threads prior to March 16 in the ABW search.
