Do you want to host in the US or UK ? Here's a list of a few hosts I've used and been happy with who provide MySQL/PHP, decent support and all that kind of stuff.

www.infodoma.com - US host. Cheap, top class support.

www.webfusion.com - UK host. Expensive for the PHP option (its a couple of hundred quid a year). Fast, reliable uptime. Real support.

www.webconexion.net - Reseller for the above. About half price of webfusion. Don't know what the support's like as I've never needed them.

www.unitedhosting.co.uk - Just started using them. Good reputation on WebHostingTalk.com. I think the servers are in the US, but not sure on this. Pretty cheap.

I really love ABW!!!! Thank you very much Markymark and Connie Berg. I have been burnt a few times in the past. And this information saves me basing my decision on a trial and error basis.

I swear by myhosting.com if you are looking for an MS solution and I will continue to use them for any site that does not require PHP or MySQL. Tiny latency, Great uptime, best value and unsurpassed service.

    Sincere Thanks, DPG

Try THmedia posting right here at ABW. Another good alternative is OLM.net

Anyone have any experience with hostrocket? Their unlimited sub-domains look very appealing.

I believe THmedia is/was running a special for abw members for that too... don't quote me though.

Actually I think it was unlimited domains, not just sub domains...

That is correct. TH Media has a 'Plan 7' that isn't listed on our site. This is for ABW members that have several websites and want to control everything from one Cpanel. With the Plan 7, there is 1 gig of space and 20 gigs of transfer. There is unlimited domains as long as you don't go over the 1 gig. Each domain also has its own DNS so it is fully resolvable, and each one has its own stats and e-mail.

You will find a lot of them at http://www.hosting-america.net directory

Look at the ones that have the Appies Host Manager. It's a sweet app...

The Appie Host manager isnot for sale as a standalone app. many people are asking to buy it but they do not sell it outright. It comes with the servers the companies lease and those who use it say that no other WHM can come close to what this one can do.

RackSpace.com! I swear by them. I have had 0 downtime except for from my own doing. They have multiple connections from different isps so speed / reliability is not a prob.
Pricing is a little bit high but the support and reliability is well worth it. ( I have also found that their prices aren't set in stone. )

Sorry I arrived here late, but I just have to post to cancel out Mark's recommendation of webfusion.

I was a customer of their for a couple of years and have to say I had atrocious experiences with them. I originally selected them because they pitch themselves as the "business" alternative but found them to be very un-aware of the idea that people might have businesses running on their servers.

Bad things happened, support was poor - and don't get me started on their accounts dept!

As always - YMMV - but I had repeated bad experiences with them that haven't been repeated anywhere else.

My recommendation would be as soon as you can justify it and stand the techie side of it, set yourself free from all that virtual hosting malarky and get a dedicated server. $230/month gets me a Linux server all to myself + 10 hours sys admin time for the dirty jobs.

    edited to add: rackshack.net + easyservermanagement.com

    <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> www.infodoma.com - US host. Cheap, top class support. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

    Can't agree with that one.
Painfully slow FTP to my 1 site at infodoma - wouldn't use them again.
    Big thumbs down.
