Just wondering where everyone landed, if any are willing to share their experiences?

I was in the middle of moving my stuff last week when THMedia shut my whole site down. Here I though we had until the end of the month. Oh well, just add a few more hours onto the work required to get everything moved.

www.httpme.com for my plan 7 others for my dedicateds and moved a client site to interland. I can highly recommend httpme.com, just make sure you immediately open a ticket to augment the addons and subdomains to how ever many you need (if more than 25).

I did the same with httpme. No problem, they were fast to open an account and it was easy to transfer my domains.

To be safe I'm working also with www.ehostpros.com. Fast servers, easy set up.

    I don't recommend www.e3servers.com. Awful service.

If you're in the UK I thoroughly recommend Donhost which has a 20Gb/month reseller plan with unlimited domains on Unix for £399 + tax (£470) a year (I guess $640/$752). Useful if you want a UK host.

[Edited.. put Mb when I meant Gb. Doh!]

I came this close to signing up with httpme.com. My challenge was that I needed a shell account which they will not do. I use the shell to run htDig my search engine.

I ended up at Kualo.com They offer what is in effect Plan 7, but at a much lower cost (as does httpme.com). For me it was awesome, as I ended up with three-times the storage space for less than half the cost.

I have had a number of technical questions and issues, and Craig there has bent over backwards to help. They have the same type of discussion board front end as httpme along with the traditional help desk.

As for TH. I was twelve hours into moving my domains (some had not propagated yet) when I tried to log-in one morning and everything was gone there - poof! I went from eleven-days without power here, to my sites being completely down for two-days, then this. To add to the fun, after the TH sites came back up the first time, everything had to be re-configured - ftp accounts (merchant feeds) etc...etc... I don't want to face this hell again.

Okay, enough whining - sorry. Have a great evening everyone.

I thought "20MB" seemed awfully low...

(I hadn't been at TH but when I saw the above I had to check and see if they really thought someone could run an empire on 20MB!)

I went with Dr.Evil, of course. It's cheaper. I'm satisfied. You would have to PM your regular e-mail for info. Don't think I can post it here.

???Speak English??? You should have complete control to create a custom "hosting package" for each domain you place into your account, with as many or as few of the bells and whistles as you wish.

httpme I'll highly recommend. Kualo offers the same setup at a slightly lower price, but they do not respond as quickly (or effectively) to support requests as httpme does.

Maybe they will slack-off after I have been there a while, or you were ill treated - I have had nothing but fast response from Kualo to my strange needs.

If I need to add a domain, I simply go into WHM, pick one of the plans (that I have already easily customized), and click - I'm done, just wait for the DNS to propagate. You really get the same thing (or more) than Plan7 for $30./mo. Again, I would have gone with httpme if they had not been so hard-nosed about the shell issue.

I am not going to sit in here and "out-feature" other hosts. I started this thread to ask former TH'ers, especially plan7's what they had done. I did not want to have others pop-in and tell us how great their host is.

    Good luck to all.

Gordon, are you using Plan7, or another? I am assuming they just turned off all of the Plan7's Maybe, it was just me...

Fred, my plan 7 account is still up, I've already got everything moved, just hope google has updated it's DNS info. I went with a server at server4you.net, pretty happy so far, plenty of room and it's fast. I may have to try httpme or Kualo for some other sites if they are really that good.

No I was not ill-treated at all; I currently use kualo as well as httpme and others. I would just recommend httpme a little more heartily

BTW has anybody ever thought of looking in the YELLOW PAGES for a LOCAL HOST?

There are certain advantages to being able to deal with somebdoy face-to-face.

I just want to put in a word for Kualo.com, been with them for a year now R3 reseller plan , total downtime in that year has been about 6 hours, help desk has always been quick to respond, and "ahem" fixed many mistakes that I made with a chuckle, since I am technologically challenged.
Since they have offices around the world there is always someone online and manning the help desk.
I also have an account at httpme, but the prices are not as good, but the service is.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

    Silly me 20Gb, not 20Mb!

I've still got a single site hosted with TH Media and I'm happy with it there. It's got a lot of links to other sites of mine and is on a totally different subnet, which works for me.
