i thinkmy domain name has expired! which i bought off someone ages ago. i did not put the domain name with the rest of mine - for some stupid reason!
i cannot remember who it is that holds it! i have even looked at the whois.sc and it does not say.

please help as this is a yahoo and dmoz listed name which i know it will be snapped up. i think it ran out march 11th - do you have any idea how long i have to keep it?

They go into a redemption period.. if you find the registrar, you should be able to recover it.

Check out http://www.verisign.com/nds/naming/ which might give you some more info.

If it expired March 11th, you'll have no problem recovering it. Noone will be able to "steal" a fresh expired domain. It takes about 30 to 60 days and then some before the general public has a crack at it.

That should work for you, unless the reseller put a lock on it! I ran into that problem earlier this year. Took me a few days and some phone calls before I could get it unlocked.

i have logged in and there is nowhere to renew it! so i have emailed their support.

but this is what it says

    5. What happens at the time of renewal?

The billing contact on the domain name is notified when a domain name is due for renewal. If payment is not received prior to the renewal date, the domain is placed on hold deleted.

i think i got the email, but with all the spam, virus's email scams and paypal crap, i must have deleted it!

It's been renewed at Tucows for a year, but is still on registrar-hold at Verisign. So no panic - it won't be deleted.

The registrar-hold status should come off at the next verisign registry update and your NS data will be back in the zone file.

I've learned the hard way on a couple of names as well. Unfortunately, I lost Torsk.com due to my domain management error a while back. I had several people who contacted me wanting to buy that name as well but .......
