Was looking at WHT and there are varying reports as to how good this host is, perhaps someone here has experience with them?

    TIA!!

Get a real server. You can get a decent one from http://www.servermatrix.com

as far as ServInt goes... I guess they are OK. If they are anything like they were before they went bankrupt (they emerged from bankruptcy some time ago), then they are probably good. They provided a lot of support then, but I thought they were a bit pricey.

I have dedicated servers with www.serverpronto.com (cheap, but support sux)
    www.nocster.com (cheap, good support)
www.ev1servers.net (more expensive than www.nocster.com, but slightly better network, instant setup, more bandwidth)

    And, I have a VPS with olmnetworks.com

The VPS with OLM costs more than many dedicated servers out there, but they have been pretty good to me. The site has seen very little downtime over the past 3 or so years. The server is fast... they do not overload them.

Overall, if you are looking for power, low price, good support, I think nocster is your best bet. If you need more bandwidth, ev1servers...

    Tj,

I have an VPS at ServInt for the past 3-4 months. I decided on a VPS because I was not confident enough to go full dedicated. It's a good way to learn.

The server was slow at the start but has improved over the last few months. Support is just ok, normally they respond within the hour but in one case I had an issue with cpanel which took 3 days to resolve.

I plan to move to a dedicated server in the next few months.

    Check http://www.webhostingtalk.com
    for more info.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, I like their prices and lots of people over there on WHT have good things to say about them... but it is always the same users, and I was wondering how unbiased they really were.

Also, I'm not ready to go dedicated, and have a VPS at VO which I'm pretty pleased with. I have a bunch of sites that I want to move off of shared hosting and onto a VPS at a different datacenter from VO.

Sounds like this might be a good fit for me

I have a VPS2 with ChainReactionWeb and like it alot. I also am using it as a "training ground" for a dedicated server since I have just about filled a 5G and would have to set up a second to get more space. 5G is as big as they get.

Can I just ask is there any advantage in having more thann two IP Addresses?

I have over 50 sites and I am wondering about getting a VPS and if I do get one should I take the option of some extra IP Addresses and put some of my sites on different IP addresses rather than have them all on one or two like I do now?.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I have 60+ sites spread out over several servers and IP addresses, and the 45 that are all on one IP address get traffic just fine. There doesn't seem to be any advantage to different IP's, unless you plan to spam and need an IP that won't get the rest of your sites blocked!

I can't think of any reason either. All of the past myths should have been resolved by now.
